i have very mixed feelings about my experience with miller tech.
originally the reason i had taken my pc in to be serviced was because i had spilled soda into my pc on accident. i wasn't totally sure what to do so out of panic decided to take my pc into millertech because i saw so many amazing reviews so i figured i'd give it a shot!
as long as there were no damages i was told i would only have to pay $80 for cleaning.
december 7th - december 16th i heard literally nothing from millertech regarding my computer which was a bit alarming. i wouldn't expect a pc cleaning to take over a week. i'm typically a very patient person so i waited to call the shop on the 16th to see if there was any update. a tech said it was about 90% cleaned and most parts were laying out to dry. at this point i figured i might get my pc back by christmas.
december 19th i received a phone call from a tech saying my motherboard was ruined and i would need to pay $180 to get a new one and have it installed. this wasn't a big deal, i was told it would take 2-3 days for the part to get in.
december 23rd i received a call saying they installed my motherboard, but NOW my graphics card was faulty? i was told it would be $700 for a new 3070, so i decided to go with a 3060 for $480 instead. this is where i started to get a little bit annoyed. i understand the graphics card being faulty is in NO way their fault, but i wish i would have known this information on the 19th when we ordered my motherboard so we could have ordered both parts at the same time. we ordered the graphics card the day before christmas eve, it should arrive in 2-3 days.
december 24th - january 4th there was no communication during this period of time, i honestly gave up on contacting them myself because i should NOT have to do that.
january 5th i received a call from a tech saying my graphics card was installed and my pc was ready to be picked up.
i understand that this all took place during the holiday season and shipping takes time during this time of year. i also understand 2 out of 3 employees ended up getting sick after christmas and were out of work for a few days.
my point being, the inconvenience of dealing with holiday shipping times may have been avoidable. if there was more focus on cleaning my pc in a more timely manner within the first week then we may have known the graphics card/motherboard both needed replaced prior to christmas.
i dropped off my pc on december 7th, 2022 and i didn't receive my pc until january 5th, 2023. 30 days total.
in the end, the amount of time it took to clean my pc, the lack of communicating via phone from their end, and the amount of time it took for me to get receive my pc leads me to 3 stars, rather than 4 or even 5.
also i just want to make any potential guests aware, there is a "shop cat" at this location just incase someone has cat allergies. im guessing the cat must have been laying on my pc or peed on it because my room now smells like cat/cat pee. (i literally have no pets)
NOTE: although my experience involving communication wasn't the best, i am still very satisfied with the performance of my computer after it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy computer died 3 days before moving to DuBois. My disk drive had become corrupted, and I could not boot it to get the most recent data off my now dead computer before we moved. When I arrived to the DuBois area, and finally stopped living out of boxes, I searched for a computer/data recovery company to help me get months of my data back. Millertech Technology Services was one of the first that popped up on the search and had very good reviews. Never having been to Reynoldsville, I used Google Maps to guide me there.
The techs at Millertech were very friendly and cautioned me that they didn't always have success in recovering data off of "dead" hard drives, but would give it a try. I am happy to say they they were very successful in my situation. They recovered all of the data that was new since my last backup, and were able to take away the stress of losing 5 months of pictures of my family and grandson. I would highly recommend that you seek them out if you have any computer issues or concern. Truly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got carsick and had to pull over near Punxsy ā after an eternity on the side of the road, I accidentally left my phone on the bumper where Iād been sitting. When I finally realized, my phone had already been run over by a few cars and lay broken in the road.
These guys were fantastic. I had a flight to Seattle the next day, so they swapped the projects they were currently working on with one another to allow the person who was more familiar with my phone to work on the repair. When he heard I was leaving the area, he worked past closing to fix my phone, changing the screen and ensuring it worked properly. Not only that, they did it on their own accord ā I was more than happy to pick my phone up first thing the next morning, but they insisted that I have it back to prevent a stressful travel day from being any worse.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. They really saved me at the end of a pretty miserable day and they did it with so...
