On Sunday 7/13 I was charged for 50% more green waste than what my truck bed can actually hold. Upon exit I explained to the person working at the front that my bed was smaller than their estimate, going so far as to show them the manufacturer’s specs for my vehicle. They then measured the EXTERNAL dimensions of my vehicle in an exaggerated manner and pretended that my bed was 80% bigger than it actually is.
What I struggle with all of this is that by definition, measurements are a constant. There’s literally no way to have a difference of opinion regarding them.
All in all, it was a pretty bad experience from a customer service perspective. I’ll be going to the Berkeley Transfer Station or Recology in SF in the future—both have friendlier staff and don’t charge for more than your vehicle can...
Read moreShort bed pickup truck filled truck bed. First day I go there they said that's two and a half yards and charge me for it. Next day same amount they told me that its 5 yards and it would cost $165 plus an additional 12.05% surcharge. That 12.05 percent surcharge is on everything just an FYI. They even have a poster with a picture of different size trucks and for a short bed pickup filled to the top of the cab it says that is 4 cubic yards. When I questioned them they took out a piece of PVC pipe and measured it and said it came to 4.99 yards. I guess there poster is wrong. It just seems to depend on what day you go and who's looking at your load as to the decision they make. The one in San Francisco is nice because they weigh you in and weigh you out so there's no...
Read moreThe Dump is conveniently located and easy to get to but is managed very poorly, I have to say employees are nice but obviously not train well. It's silly to have only one cashier when you can easily have 2 because gates are already there. One time I had to wait 20 min in line!!!
After you pay at the gate a d drive up the hill and down to the DUMP having only one employee giving you directions makes the process slow and probably unsafe too.
The prices are "ok" what is not ok is not to have more employees for the prices they charge (around $50 for couch/matress and $140 dor a FULL truck). No wonder why Beautiful Richmond is a Dump when the City doesn't offer any incentives to actually go to the Dump and be able to take hazardous waste...
