Galehouse Tree Farms — Local services in Rittman

This farm is in a beautiful area, and the drive in is pleasant. They have cute signs and little rhymes along the entry drive. We were greeted and handed a map of the farm and our hopes were high! However, that was the end of our pleasant experience. The trees are expensive and if you cut your own it is ONE price no matter the size. The tree lanes were not taken care of. There were huge thorn bushes entangled in trees and garbage (including a can of raid wasp killer) left carelessly in the weeds. The trees had a high variety, however it looked as if someone had some along and chopped the bottom branches off only leaving a perfectly trimmed top. The lanes were labeled by kind of tree and the map showed you the sizes. it was difficult finding any trees over 6 feet despite the sizes labeled on the map. Not only do they charge the steep price no matter what size of tree, they charge for the shaking and the wrapping of your tree as well. When we asked about how our tree could possibly be that much we were met with a rude and short reply. Unfortunately we will not...

Our third year buying a tree at Galehouse. We like the selection of trees over some other farms that we have bought from over the years. Making this a 4 store only because we picked our 10’ tree, the guy gave us the ticket and proceeded to go bale it while we went inside to pay. By the time we got back out, our tree was gone. Evidently taken by someone else as they left a much smaller/less expensive baled tree behind. The staff was very sweet and made good by going back out to the field to find a comparable tree size. Rather disappointed in the whole experience though, could be a better checks and balance process. When we go back next year we’ll just need to keep better tabs on it. Karma can deal with whoever ended up taking our tree this year - pretty pathetic kind of...

I’ve been coming here every year for 39 years to get a Christmas tree. My family went when I was a kid and now I take my wife and kids every year, along with my sister and her family, and my mom!

It’s one of the best memories and traditions we have in our family and wouldn’t be possible without Galehouse. Thanks for all the years and memories! We will continue to make them year after year and I hope one day my kids can bring their families here.

We love the main building with the hot cocoa, hot cider, and popcorn. We each pick out an ornament every year and usually buy our garland and wreaths from here as well after hiking out and cutting down our trees. I look forward to...
