This review is on the golf course. First, check in was more difficult than it needed to be, because they didn't have a chip reader and card strip didn't work, so they had to input card by hand. Specifically on the course, the conditions were very good. I'd rate 4 stars. I was leery based on the old posts, but they are under new ownership and I was pleasantly surprised. A few greens had some bad spots they patched in new sod. My biggest disappointment was the uninspired Gene Hamm course layout I would rate a modest 3 stars. The course design was unremarkable especially the front with no water coming into play. The back was more interesting with water in play on several holes. Only several noteworthy golf holes that might be remembered in the future, most notably the par 4 18th with water down the entire right side and left of the green. All the other holes had a lot of the same same feeling. A few of the greens were quirky with the mounding. Finally, IMO this course would benefit from blended or combination tees, or another set of tees between white and gold. Definition: “Combination Tees” — using two or more sets of tees to add variety to a course’s setup — is probably the easiest way to update a course. Our course did this and it is really good idea. There is too much gap at RB between Blue, White and Gold..... 6,400, 6100 and 5,300. They need an option at about 5,700-5,800. There are 9 par 4's that are 375 to 400 from blue/white, but these same holes are 330 or under at the gold tees. A blended purple or added tee allows for those senior golfers that still play from the regular tees and don't want to move up and play a bunch of 300 yard par 4's and 400...
Read moreWhere to begin, for a so called country club, the greens are beyond horrendous. They spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to redo the greens 2 years ago. Instead of using bermund grass, they used bent grass, which doesn't to well in ENC. Anyone who has ever worked on an southern grass course, knows this fact. I would love to know what moron decided to use this grass. Does he/she have turf degree? Do the they have any common sense or can read any turf book? Most greens have no grass and are dirt. There is a shit ton of goose grass and Other weeds. They only way to get rid of goose grass is to cut the root out with a knife. No chemicals will kill that grass. I previously worked at a TPC course and another private C.C. and was there when they redid the greens. I have seen plenty of public courses that are in borderline C.C. conditions compared to this. This club is the worst course I've seen in a long time, I've seen Par 3 courses in better shape. Thank God I am not a member, for I would want my money back. The Tees, fairways & aproaches are in good shape. Some of the rough & Out of bounds are knee high tall. I find it very funny that the Mayor of Riverbend talks about this course in his into to the town on the website. This course will NEVER draw folks to move here. It will turn them away. Another sad part about this shit hole, folks are paying $32 for twilight golf, or after 3pm. It is a complete waste of money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR WELL...
Read moreIf I could rate it zero stars I would. I came to the course from Jacksonville expecting it to be as nice as the pictures it has online. It was the exact opposite. You can tell the owner has no idea what he is doing. The superintendent must have the lowest intellect on how to properly seed, fertilize, and maintain a golf course. It has the feel that you are playing on a farm that they are attempting to pass off as a golf course. The fairways seem like they haven’t been mowed in weeks and the greens are extremely patchy. After only playing three holes we asked for a refund. The OWNER had a very hostile attitude. I would not be surprised if due to his inability to properly run a golf course results in a foreclosure of the property. Once we left we played Emerald Golf club and it was absolutely amazing. I extremely suggest to not waist your time and money on...
