I have been coming to the Outer Banks for almost three decades. My family and I have travelled all over the island, visited many restaurants and naturally have our favorite places. So, when it came time for my wife and I do pick our catering for our destination wedding, we were unsure where to turn and honestly the pressure was on to live up to the standard of some of our favorite places. I can honestly say that Johanna's food and overall experience blew our expectations out of the water and her food was absolutely unbelievable. Some of our family had been to the OBX many times and some had come for the very first time for our wedding and all of us agreed, Johanna's dining experience was one of the highlights of the entire wedding week!! We had Johanna's cater the rehearsal dinner, wedding dinner, and post-wedding brunch and honestly we could not get enough. Everything was of the highest quality, fresh, and so tasty. Her menu was phenomenal giving us a lot of options to choose from and she had something for everyone! We did a taco bar, pasta bar, and brunch for our three meals and all of them were amazing! Johanna's Cafe is now at the top of the list for our family! On the administrative side, her team was professional, prompt, and so helpful in organizing everything for us since were were coming from out of state. Her wait staff was so courteous, polite, and helpful and you can tell that every single one of them truly cares about your experience with them! We have already said that for our 5th anniversary we are coming back to the OBX and will be using Johanna again. Cafe Lachine and the entire staff are beyond amazing. I just got married in Carova last Friday and had begun working with the staff, specifically Tess & Johanna, to plan our wedding menu. Oh yea and I'm vegan - and wanted to do the entire menu vegan as well to showcase how amazing this food can be when done right and because that is what I believe in. So not only was Johanna up for the challenge but she exceeded my expectations with how amazing the food was - and all my guests (carnivores mostly) raved about everything! They customized the entire menu to what my husband and I envisioned and it was wonderful. Not only was the food delicious, but their professionalism, enthusiasm about what they do and flexible are by far some of the best people I have ever worked with. Even a last minute change of moving dinner 30 minutes back (wanted to get some beautiful sunset pictures) was no problem and they adjusted accordingly with ease. We used their services as well for a bartender for the day of, and even with a demanding crowd of people she kept her cool and was prompt at making a variety of drinks. I cannot say enough about Johanna's food and staff. They catered our rehearsal dinner as well as our wedding reception at a private ocean front rental. From start to finish they were incredible to work with, truly going above and beyond with their food as well as their service. They came with their wonderful food, and personalities, set up, made sure everyone was happy and fed, packed up all the leftovers, and cleaned up like they were never there. There was plenty of food, and it was delicious and hot, and their presentation was beautiful. The full service was more than worth the money, as there was no way we could have done it better or for less money. We had a BBQ for the rehearsal dinner, which was some of the best BBQ we have ever had, and their custom catering menu for the reception, the steak was melt in your mouth and the local fish was fantastic, don't skip the potatoes pave, they were the best potatoes I've ever eaten.
