Had one of those days in trucking where as the saying goes " when it rains it pours". At 6 am my AC compressor goes out. Local travel center told me it was on national back order. I asked if they could check my charging system. They say sure. Went to pay I was told everything was good. I drove 12 miles when my battery voltage went to 11.6. I knew I was on borrowed time.
I called around and no one had time for me. Battery's went down to 10.7. I reached out to freightliner . River states in Roberts Wisconsin first. Spoke to Mr Joe. Told him my troubles. He asked me all the right questions. He realized I was closer to his sister store in Eau Claire.
I made it to the shop before it got dark and where I met Mr. Craig. He found me the right alternator and even went outside with me to confirm it, which put my mind at ease. Mr. Craig also suggested I get a new pulley. Said if I didn't need it I could always return it. After some consideration to my situation I said that's a great idea. If I couldn't find a shop open or if I found myself broke down roadside I would have to make the repair myself. I purchased both items and Mr Craig asked if I was sure I wanted both parts. I said yes and he had it pressed for me.
Not wanting to push my good fortune I took a shot. I asked if he had an AC compressor for my truck and he went hunting. Turns out his sister store in Roberts had the part and a few others I've been searching for. He gave me a parts list and even confirmed it was in stock. Never have I ever been so tended to in a shop like this.
I paid for my stuff and headed off to see Mr Joe in Roberts. At this point it's dark and my truck is barely hanging on. I pull in the shop shaken and in tears. Power drained in my truck I had no lights and if not for Devine mercy I would have been lost. Mr. Joe comes out like a professional super hero. He gathers information, gets assistance with parking my trailer. Hooks a fast charger on my batteries. Grabs me and my dog a bottle of water. Tell me it's going to be OK. He told me I was safe and he was going to help me get my truck back on track.
Mr. Joe put A technician on my truck. I need to mention its close to quitting time and these guys never flinched. They heard my voice and treated me with kindness and respect. As a woman in trucking I don't always get that. These guys made me feel like this is just how they do business.
As I calmed down I wondered to the parts section and struck up conversations with Mr. Phil. I gave him the list I had gotten earlier from Mr. Craig and he located everything I needed. Also saw me looking at the refrigerator and let me know that it was on sale.
Look you guys i know this is a long review but when you get service like this you have to tell somebody. I need an overhaul done soon and I will be back.
This team has my respect...
Read moreThe service I received was not good at all. I had a starter replaced and didn’t make it 800 Miles before needing a jump. Since I was loaded I had to continue driving in the opposite direction. The truck wouldn’t start a second time but I happen to be at a TA. The mechanic came out and asked me to try starting the truck. After listening to it he reached his arm in and touched where the starter was. All the lights inside the truck flickered each time he touched it. He tried to jump it but it didn’t work. After a closer look he noticed the battery post on one of the batteries was melted. Long story shortened a wire was loose leading to starter. I called a local Freightliner in Ohio and he stated it was a workman issue and told me to call the Freightliner I had the starter replaced at and see if they would honor the warranty by allowing TA to fix it and they reimburse me. Unfortunately River States was closed so I had to call them the next morning. I spoke with the head of Services and we spoke on a few different occasions but eventually he stopped accepting my calls and did not return any either. The cost was only $377 for the battery replacement and tightening of the wire leading to the starter so I thought they would honor the warranty but the head of service only asked questions to see if he could get around paying. He asked for pictures of the starter and copies of the receipt. The mechanic took pictures of the battery and wrote the cause which was the loose connection. Because of starter placement he was not able to obtain a photo. Then he asked was it properly jumped, etc which it was but even if it wasn’t it wouldn’t explain the loose wire to the starter. No counter offer, nothing. If they felt it was improperly jumped why not pay for the service of having the wire tightened to the starter. Anyway it was a let down. I would not recommend...
Read moreMy 2018 Freightliner DEF sign was blinking after I dropped trailers about 30 miles away from this Freighliner shop. So, I brought the truck in about 3:30 PM into the shop, but they couldn't fix the issue by the time the shop was closed at 5:30 PM on Saturday.I stayed in the truck on Sat and Sun night because my truck couldn't pick up the speed not even 5 miles an hour at the time. The Flying J with Mcdonald's inside is about 1.2 miles away from the shop and I couldn't drive the truck BC of the DEF issue. I couldn't go nowhere at the time, just staying in the truck until the shop is opened next Monday. I found it out later I could use their car to commute with my own insurance approved. I was not informed about it. That's fine with me, though. They diagnosed my truck again in the morning on Monday and updated whatever it needed relating to the DEF issue. At least, I thought it was fixed completely and I saw same DEF blinking sign again after about 600 miles of driving. The total amount of bill was $800 and $600 came out of labor charge for the service. If the problem were solved, I am okay with $800 I got charged. I called the shop for the same DEF issue happening and their response was "we don't know exact issue until we see the truck again" Do they know how to fix DEF issue of Freightliner or just pretending know about the issue in front their customers? I am very disappointed of the result of service. Upstairs driver lounge has a shower room for a driver was a good one, though. Other than that, for hardware issues of truck, they probably know how to fix it very well. But, software issue like DEF, cruise control malfunctions, are they good at that? I don't think so based on...
