We enjoyed a afternoon at a Apple Festival. It had food, craft vendors, hayrides, barrel rides, making crafts and scarecrows. Parking was done by donations. There are some uneven surfaces on the property. You need to walk up a hill in order to see some historic buildings. You will see some living history events on the 26-acre Joanna Furnace ironmaking plantation. The events take place from 10-5. There is a festival the weekend after Labor Day, Apple festival In October and a Christmas event in December. You can check their website. The volunteer are great! They demonstrate the craftsman and tradesman skills. The apple festival had Some great food! The Historic Joanna Furnace is close to Morgantown, Pa. They have porta potties on the premises. Read moreLoved the Apple festival, we were there the last three years in a row. First year the Apple crisp was phenomenal! Last year we got there too late and they were sold out. This year, we were there yesterday with my family, and I was really looking forward to that Apple crisp once again. However, it was downright awful-the apples were extremely hard, not chopped up and tender, with lots of crisp, like the first time I had it. Also, there was hardly ANY crisp at all. I wound up throwing it out. A waste of $8. Whoever made the crisp for this year’s festival should not be allowed to make it again going forward!!! Disappointing!!
On the other hand, we had a great time shopping at all the vendor stands and my 20 year old daughter got a lot of great stuff!!! We will be going again...
