ššššš THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!! I was introduced to the magic of macbid almost 2 months ago, since then I have purchased over 120 items in total, ranging from $3.20-$100+ each. I have been very pleased with my whole experience, starting the first day I went to pick up my inaugural purchase! After reading general macbid reviews (many from the finest keyboard Karens around) and understanding how the whole process works, I was expecting the employees to be mediocre and burnt out from dealing with the public in this unique capacity. BOY WAS I WRONG! I was pleasantly surprised when I was had genuine interactions with employees ranging from unsolicited assistance in locating an item I was having difficulty finding, to inquiring if I needed any help with anything as I was quietly sitting to rest for a moment. It wasn't the usual tacky, fake, and sugary customer service BS that is all too common. These women and men always appear to be working in progressive forward motion, which Im sure can be difficult to do since they are surrounded by the average consumer aka a self centered jerk with zero self awareness. My observations on my many visits revealed these employees are either smiling/pleasant, or they are intensely focused on whatever task they are doing; I've never seen anyone standing around aimlessly, or witnessed any interpersonal conflict/attitude with workers or with customers.
The Rock Hill warehouse is the only one I have been to so far, but I suspect the conveyer belt employees (the ones who do the sorting, take the pics of the items and their boxes, and note relevant item details) are superior to other warehouses based simply on comparing listings on the app. The RH pics are amazing (esp considering the sheer volume these people have to process), and the details in the description are very helpful (used, dusty, broken part, missing parts, turns on, no remote, missing wheel, etc). Sure, after 120 different items purchased, I have had a few disappointments when I got home. Very few. Ex1: entryway/shoe bench combo purchased, only half of the contents of the box were actually related to the item, the other half was "filler" of boxes and random planks- the AH who returned their Amazon purchased is the one who dishonestly packed their return, not Macbid's fault at all... and the pics of the open box showed the actual mixed contents of the box, there is no way anyone would know that half of those pieces didnt belong, until you tried to assemble it. Ex2: open box wok for cooking purchased, the pics of the item still had the plastic bag over the pan so it was not evident that the item was clearly used, and there was no mention of "used" in the description... if I knew it was used then I would not have paid $20 for it, I fully recognize that this is the inherent risk when buying in this capacity. This is the ONLY purchase out of 120+ that I could consider potentially "deceptive" marketing, but also may just be the result of someone on autopilot as they are processing hundreds of items during one shift. It was listed as "open box", and I did not inspect it before purchase, so it ultimately was my fault.
If you take a few minutes to do your due diligence in reading about the bidding process, fees, pick up rules, like new vs open box, buyers assurance, return policy, hours, membership options, last chance deals, instant win, etc... you will be a properly informed consumer who can reap the benefits of this niche resale business....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI Love Rock Hill M@c. My trips here are an hour and 10 minutes from my place and everytime I come here Iām in and out thanks to their hard working staff KB & Damiano! One of these guys are always willing to give me a hand loading my items since this location tends to have most of the big box items I get. Often I get big box pallets too and they never hesitate to assist me and the help is greatly appreciated! I try to show them my gratitude with a tip when I can! These guys are awesome and make my trip fast and efficient every time I come! Just want to let everyone know that this warehouse location is on point these days with their helpful and friendly staff! Great Job Guys!!
UPDATE!!!!! Since I submitted this review, one of the employees I mentioned above, his name is KB, literally got FIRED FOR HELPING CUSTOMERS š³š”š¤¬ !! Iām blown away that any business or establishment would dare to FIRE an employee for doing what 99%of Companies pay their employees to do and are usually expectations the employees are supposed to live up to! The only reason I drive over an hour to come to this Rock Hill Location on a weekly basis is because of the employees like KB!! He was the best employee they had because he was so willing to help and made my trip quick and efficient every time! Majority of companies REWARD EMPLOYEES LIKE HIM NOT FIRE THEM!! This is the most absurd thing Iāve ever heard of a business doing to their employees. The customers are the ones keeping their doors open and youāre gonna fire your employees for helping them that is the most ridiculous thing Iāve ever heard and horrible business Practice. It doesnāt matter if somebody sued you for helping the customer you canāt please everybody but the point is to do itās a lot more happy customers for the help then they were upset ones, but now youāre gonna upset all of them. Iām blown away and theyāll be lucky if they ever get another dollar of my money and I spent a lot of money at this place.
My once 5-STAR Review is Now a 1-Star Review (would have been a 0-Star but Google makes you give at least one star to leave a review) due to the actions and business practice of this Company and their Unprofessional Leadership and CEO! Never in my life thought a company would resort to such preposterous rules and insane measure due to one person being upset. Now I will make sure everyone know how this company rewards their best employees by firing them for helping the people who keep their doors open!! Good luck M@C Bids!! I hope you get sued again and I might just be the one to do it!! Because no one would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen you show up to a warehouse that still has seven cars in front of it and people walking around searching for their items 3 minutes before closing and you're told to take a hike that's just not good business. I always really loved this location going as far as even getting the staff pizza for always being so kind and considerate and tipping the guys when they help you load merchandise into your vehicle. Then today I get stuck in traffic and arrive 3 minutes before closing. I pay monthly for a subscription for extended hours not to mention there are still seven individual customers loading merchandise, searching for merchandise, and going to take a much longer time than I will picking up a single box on a rack three racks away from the front door. The female at the exit was unbelievably rude and offered no type of compassion. Someone with her type of attitude does not belong working with the public. I have always spoken so highly of this company and introduced so many people to your auctions. It really is true it does not pay to be nice to anyone because when you need a 3-minute reprieve, they smack you in the face.
UPDATE / RESPONSE While I appreciate your standard reply to my review it does change the facts of my interaction. If I am picking up something that requires 2.5 minutes to complete from entrance to exit there is no harm in allowing it to be completed . This is especially true when you still have many other customers who will take much longer to complete their transactions. This was in no way a security issue or something that would have caused even a 1 second additional hour of Labor. A happy customer tell us one or two friends about a great experience and provides referrals. A unhappy customer tells at least 10 of their friends and Associates about the negative experience they received. If you actually see and speak to those who leave your Warehouse you would find the negative experiences are far outweighing the positive experiences. Also, you cannot quote your rating on Google or any other source as a reflection of your true level of customer service. Especially when you outright solicit and pay for five-star reviews. Every Warehouse that you have in North and South Carolina clearly has pre-printed signage showing where you pay for...
