18 Handicapper Review-
Water, water, and deadly rough with grass clusters abound- This is a challenging course which, if you have never been to, has some blind shots which require some local knowledge. Coming out of winter/COVID-19 hibernation, I jumped at the chance to try this course out.
The course is in the gentle rolling hills between Knoxville and Alcoa, TN. Hardwood trees line the course and water (from Little River, a finger off of the Tennessee River) is present on most holes (and on one or two, on both sides of the fairway). The only detraction to the views are high voltage power lines which traverse the course at points.
There is plenty of water to be found, I donated generously, and if you stray off the fairways, keep a sharp eye out for your ball as the grass clusters are ravenous.
As I played on a weekend in prime time, the course was full. The tee boxes were adequate, some par 3's were predictably pock marked and could have used moving a few feet. The fairways were good when found, although the rolling hills and terrain sometimes left me guessing as to where the fairway ended and the danger began. The greens were fairly firm, quick, and rolled true.
Saturday prime green fees were $50 including the cart with GPS and complimentary range balls (unfortunately hit off mats which left green plastic on the club heads).
I found parking to be at a premium and had to circle for about 5 minutes to find a space to open up. The staff was friendly and efficient.
Bottom line- if you've never been here, I'd recommend you give it a go (with a dozen balls...
Read moreHad a friend in from NY for the New Year's weekend. Pretty lousy weather overall but ended up playing Egwani on Sunday. We played Pine Lakes on Friday, Dead Horse on Saturday. Sunday was raining and a pretty nasty day. The course does not drain well at all and paying $40 (normally $45) might be ok for some areas but I don't feel that it was a very good value at all, especially after playing other local courses two previous days. Greens were in very good shape albeit slow which is understandable but almost all of the fairways had standing water everywhere. We knew it was going to be wet but driving by Pine Lakes which is pretty much right across the street, there was almost no visible standing water anywhere. Course has very few yardage markers which is understandable with gps on carts but with cart path only it was frustrating to have to guess alot. Carts were soaking wet when we got in while what appeared to be 3 or 4 employees were sitting around doing absolutely nothing and someone might have mentioned they had a yardage book. If they were employees they should at least wipe the carts out, specifically when there were like 4 other cars in the parking lot. We should have known it was going to be not that great of a day when you walk up to pay your money and there is a dead morning dove 10' outstide of the clubhouse door and it was still there...
Read moreFirst time to visit the state of Tennessee. Searched for a nice course to play after the OU/VOLS game. Found it. But nice is unfair to this gem. Spectacular is appropriate. This is a must play and is one of the nicest golf courses you will ever find. The staff was over the Rocky Top friendly! Club house staff , bar girl, clubhouse, starter. This is how every course should be ran! Just incredible people. Well done folks ! The course is just beautiful and is in incredible shape. Theres a nice stream that runs around this place that might eat a ball or two but who cares. Tee boxes, markings, ball washers, it has everything. Greens are tough but don’t sweat it. You’ll enjoy playing here even if you 3 putt all day. 😂😂😂 They have the sweetest golf carts with GPS. Built in covers in case it rains. Just come play here and don't ask questions!! I’ve played in 14 states now and this is at the top for a lower priced local course, which is another great part of Egwani Farms. I’d play here each day if I was local. And when I return to the beautiful state of Tennessee some day, I’m coming back to...
