I love Camp Eagle. It is unlike any camp, adventure destination, or getaway in Texas. and because of that it can catch the unprepared visitor off-guard - for good or bad, depending upon your expectations and perspective. Camp Eagle pushes the limits in all their offerings (camps, mtn bike events, retreats, family camps) through their challenging activities. They are big in teachable moments and using what you experience to teach life lessons from the Bible (sometimes they are things we don't necessarily want to hear and cause us to confront some bad habits or wrong thinking). To top it all off, the staff are very friendly and very professional.
Keep in mind it is in outdoor adventure camp and not a resort. You won't find those types of amenities. They have a host of different accommodations on different campuses around their property. All the buildings have a/c unless you are doing a wilderness trip, then you should not expect it.
You should also know that they have a bumpy dirt road driveway off the highway that seems forever long. It seems like you crawl along when you come off the 75 mph road but I found it is good preparation for clearing my head and slowing down in preparation for the experience ahead.
Ultimately, if you are wanting an experience to grow in your relationship with Jesus and spend time with others who do too in an outdoor adventure setting, then I can't recommend a...
Read moreGreat experience at this camp with my group from church. It was my first time and I enjoyed it. The blend of outdoor adventures with biblical discipleship is fantastic. The facilities and grounds are exceptional and the views are magnificent. I highly recommend taking your youth groups here. The staff are friendly and show genuine concern for those who come through. My only complaint would be the food but it was not a deal breaker for me. The meals were either overcooked or undercooked. Not sure if there is a paid team but if there isn't, I would recommend Camp Eagle invest in a chef and hospitality/cook team that handles all food affairs. After having other camp experiences, the dining here is par at best and I think that may be...
Read moreI was a camper in 2014 for High School Discipleship 1&2 in the wilderness department (Eagle Quest, aka EQ), and then in 2015-2016 was a Walkabout student for 9 months where I got to live, serve, learn, and grow. The staff are absolutely amazing. The camp itself is in a beautiful spot, nestled right in the hill country at the mouth of the Nueces river. Camp has natural cliff faces for some bomb climbing, and some sweet trails to hike or to bike. Camp Eagle changed my life forever through biblical truth, outdoor adventure, and authentic relationships, and I gained lifelong friends, and a family. Highly highly recommend Camp Eagle for anyone, and especially recommend the Gap Year program as it will change your life. It...
