Parke County Covered Bridge Festival — Local services in Rockville

We were there on Thursday. Beautiful weather. scenic drives. A mixed bag of events - Some great, some not so... Got started early to avoid the crowds. Stopped in Tangier for the buried beef. Nice people. Some crafts and bakery good. Very interesting beef story. I would get the bbq beef - more flavorful. Plain beef seemed unseasoned.

On to Mansfield. Disappointing. Much more of a swap meet/made-in-China event with very few original or hand made items. Very few crafters but a great place to go if you need cell phone covers, and cords, a big furry blanket with a picture on it, knock-off purses, t shirts with gun references, cheap toys and carnival food. Overpriced. Very big, somewhat hilly and uneven, gravel paths spread over a large (mostly outdoor) area - more like fairgrounds. It was a lot of the same merchandise over and over and over. And over... Won't return there.

Last stop, Rockville. Much nicer. Lots of crafts and handmade items. Lots of seasonal decorations and home decor. Very cute town with shops and restaurants. Nicer quality merchandise. Still spread over a large area but having some paved sidewalks made it easier to navigate. We'll be back.

We didn't make it to Bridgeton but were told it had more crafters as well. Lots of rummage sales and flea markets all around the county. Probably needed two or even three days to see more. The bridges were cute but crowded. All in all a worthwhile festival in a beautiful setting. Definitely want to...

This was my first time attending the covered Bridge Festival period it was a beautiful drive and from Fishers. It was wonderful to take in the scenery of the farmland in the beginning of the leaves changing. I greatly enjoyed my time there. The people were nice and friendly. It was a wonderful trip and the food was delicious. I had the absolute best tenderloin sandwich in the state of Indiana. As far as I’m concerned, it might just be the best tenderloin sandwich in the whole United States from Hogg Wild BBQ. So delicious! It was the best food out of my head at the entire festival. They had a nice collection of natural gemstones as well as fossils. I met a nice man there who struck up a conversation with me about fossils and connected me to a Facebook group. It was a...
