Most of the employees were really nice, and honorable. One in particular was ahhhhhhmayzing, I wish I had gotten her name. I asked a different employee about flavor difference between two types of seeded watermelon and she said - nothing really lol. It's true seeded tend to be the same. The cantaloupes were really good. The small seconds were totally worth it. My watermelon was very good, but the rind was oddly thick. Like half an inch thicker than normal. It was a big one and cut up filled 3 of those standard black food prep containers. The 3 is for my $50 box of tomatoes had that been my only purchase this would have been a 2 star. $2 a pound is a great price unfortunately all of them are mealy, and 1/3rd are Frankenstein's monster. I have zero issue with ugly produce but most of these were fused together in a way that you lose a lot of the flesh. You're paying for black outside green/white inside for those spaces. The texture is just gross. I didn't get to pick my box, it was a quick peek which was cool with me as it's normal protocol where I grew up on the western slope. I'm not a fruitarian, but dang close so I'd like to think I'm good at picking good quality - melons rocked. There are no returns which is understandable, but I'm super disappointed. $50 is a lot of money for me and I'm going to have to cook these (hate cooking) or something because the mouth feel makes me gag. There will be no next time with...
Read moreAs long-time residents of the Arkansas Valley, my family looks forward to the arrival of produce season when the local fruit and vegetable stands open. Watermelon and cantaloupe from Rocky Ford, Colorado are famously wonderful and Knapp’s offers these traditional favorites and so much more. Tomatoes, peaches, cucumbers and more are available for purchase in large quantities for folks planning to can or pickle their purchases to enjoy year-round. This farm stand offers some vegetables that are not locally grown—such as avocados—as well as some specialty prepared products including honey. Parking is easy and the stand is located far enough off the highway to make it an easy stop. The stand facility is clean and open. Checks and cash are accepted for payment. If you require credit card or Quest Card payment, it could be worth calling ahead to confirm they are accepted as I did not check on this visit. This farm stand appears to be fully accessible to people with limited mobility or requiring a...
Read moreSTOP STOP STOP!!! This was the second stand that we stopped at after being extremely disappointed at another stand. This one had great deals on irregular sized fruit and ugly fruit and vegetables and lots of Rocky Ford cantaloupe to choose from, so there's bargains for the bargain hunters and there's premium for those that only want the best. Best. There was lots of help, for registers, and all the food was fresh. Did not see one rotten fruit in the entire stand, which is not what I can say for the first place that we stopped at. I haven't been to every stand, but this was our second stop and they were busy. Remember to stop at the stand that has the zinnia patch out front. You will not be disappointed, and your husband will only have to pull off the road...
