Two friends and myself visited for the first time, and we were very pleased with our experience. Firstly, the facility was very impressive, the cleanliness, the ample parking and easy access from the highway. Secondly, the staff was very polite, prompt and friendly. We felt that everyone made sincere efforts to ensure that we were accommodated appropriately. Thirdly, the food tasted fresh and delicious. This was the first time at the restaurant I had fried shrimp, they were a bit too crispy but they were tasty. They didn't have hush puppies, they probably use frozen instead of making them from scratch, hosses is the best for that, I get it at food lion. The other side was string beans, little thin string beans with no flavor. If you are going to saute them in a frying pan, butter and home made garlic butter or fat back. I was honestly a little skeptical about a restaurant in a remote gas station, but Sago’s won me over. I come to Franklin County a few times a year to see family, so I’m familiar with some of the standard local offerings. Sago’s does a version of a number of classics—such as a pulled pork sandwich—with a level of thoughtfulness and attention to detail that’s exceptional.
