Been a member here for quite a few years. I was disappointed that I was approached by staff to get off a machine because another member complained that I was on too long. I've seen members put towels on machines, be on phones, water bottles nearby and walk in the wrong lane on track but never complained to staff. How did this staff member know exactly how long I was on and took this person's word? It was a staff member from downstairs.
Being treated that way is something that would go on at my child's school as in "go tell the teacher." We're all adults and its a shame the over 60 crowd gets catered to. Other member could have said "how much longer?" Great way to turn off membership to 60 and under.
I've talked to other members as well and they say petty behaviors at the facility are quite the norm now. In the women's locker room some lock the lockers so they can have the same one the next day. Parking in parking lot; people don't park in stalls when plenty are available instead they park along the outside perimeter.
The staff could focus on better cleaning on the fitness floor. Dust machines, vacuum carpet. I've seen a lifesaver mint under a machine for weeks now. On weekends trash can over flows from wipes. Wipes have empty containers. Trash outside facility has over flowed as well. So Instead of the staff hassling the members to get off machines and listening to whiny members maybe they should clean. Don't forget the locker rooms could use a good cleaning too.
A member taking a few extra minutes on a machine is no big deal but all the...

Ron: I signed up for the winter triathlon series at Peak Sports today.
Tina: Great! You're going to do well. You've been swimming a lot this year. Why Peak? I thought you were going to do the indoor triathlons at NorthPointe.
Ron: I went to NorthPointe and asked if they were still going to allow walkers in the pool for those who can't swim. They said yes so it was a no brainer to sign up at Peak.
Tina: That's kind of silly to have pool walkers in a triathlon. What if the pool was 10 feet deep?
Ron: Scuba gear?
Tina: I wonder why they do that?
Ron: The answer I got a couple of years ago was to get more people into the event. Occam's Razor, hon. All variables being equal the simplest answer is typically the right one.
Tina: (Thoughtful pause) I see. How long is the swim at NorthPointe?
Ron: It's only 350 yards using all seven lanes of the pool.
Tina: That's it? I'm not the best swimmer but I can float for 350 yards.
Ron: Hey, maybe next time NorthPointe has a 5K race I'll sign up and on race day I'll show up with my bike and tell them I can't run real fast so I'll bike instead!
Tina: Good luck with that.
Ron: I suppose taking the elevator for the John Hancock Building stair climb in Chicago for NorthPointe's team is out of the question then?
Tina:...
