I sent my review in email as well. I booked two massages, one for myself and another for my friend who is a first time customer at State of Mind.
When I went inside my room, the massage therapist asked what brought me in today and I said that weāre first time mommyās just trying to enjoy a nice massage and relaxation for ourselves. She also asked what areas she should focus on and I said pretty much all over no specific area.
Iāve had many massages before and this was probably a not so great experience, unfortunately. I knew I was tense. I just never felt it and she pointed out that I was pretty much tense everywhere which is fine.
The problem was is that she focused on the tense areas so much to relieve the tension for example, on my legs, she focused on for majority of the time. It did hurt because I was not prepared for a deep tissue massage. I was going in thinking I was just gonna get a nice massage to relax. She did ask me if I was okay, and there were time that I said yes im fine or no. She did advise to me multiple times throughout the appointment that I need to come back for a Deep Tissue. Thats fine, but please focus on what I came in for today.
She also talked during pretty much the whole appointment and Iām not much of a talker when I just want to lay and get a nice massage done. This is a massage appointment, a spa experience, not two girls hanging out. She then told me to flip over so she can focus on my upper body. She did not again massage my arms, my chest shoulders. She was focusing on the tension that I had. She was rubbing the back of my head to find the pressure point and once she did, she massaged it out and then noticed that the tension from like my shoulders and arm, kinda relieved itself. Again, there was really no massage taking place throughout this whole experience and thatās very disappointing because I pay a lot of money for that. She barely touched my back.
Sorry, but I did not enjoy myself. I even tipped her only because i know how it is to earn the money. She is a mommy with kids and I can relate to that. Also, itās respectful to tip no matter the service. But at the end of the day, i knew I had to let you know how it was. The next day, i woke up sore especially my upper body. I expected a little bit more for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy mother and grandmother recieved gift cards for this establishment. They recently set appointments back to back to have their hair done. My grandmother asked for a 4 inch cut all the way around. Meaning she wanted her hair to be 4 inch's long on top, On the sides, on the back. After 10-15 minutes trying to explain this, they began the hair cut. It ended up being 1-2 inch's in the back 6-7 inches on the side and 4 inch's on top. The hair stylist then had to have another stylist leave her customer to come and touch up my grandmother's hair as it wasn't what she had asked for. It's still obviously not what she wanted as you can't add 2 inches to the back which has already been cut. After that the second stylist went back to her customer, and the stylist attending my grandmother and set to attend my mother went to the back room. They were then told after about 30 minutes that they would have to reschedule as the original stylist who they made an appointment with was refusing to cut my mother's hair. This was because the stylist was upset that my grandmother didn't like what she had done. When the customer asks for a specific haircut, this isn't the stylists chance to give her something new and cutting edges. She should do exactly what's asked of her. Give the haircut the customer wants. I am very disappointed that we even gave these gift cards to them. I would have spent 5 times less at the local hair Cuttery and recieved much better service.
Avoid at all costs.... Literally.
They were also told the manager would call to set a new appointment with my mother and they have not heard from the salon in over 48 hours. Makes me wonder if they don't care as it's gift cards and has to be spent one...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThree of us wanted to get pedicures together. It was pretty hard to get an appointment for 3 people at the same time as they were booked pretty far ahead. I had to call because I didn't see the option of scheduling for 3 people online. We got an appointment booked and all got the regular $58 pedicures. Each of us got the EXACT same pedi, same amount of time, same everything. The other two women got charged $58. I got charged $68 because my lady had been there longer pretty so I had to pay more. I was never told this when I scheduled. Online, you have the option to pick who/ what price you want to spend. Not over the phone apparently. I feel like they should have at least told me when booking. Honestly, I could see paying more for a hair stylist who has way more experience than someone else. But pedis... I'm sorry, there was no more experience from my lady vs the other two that we had. They all did the exact same thing. Almost 80 bucks (including tip) is a bit ridiculous for a pedi. Was a bit disappointed. I will say though, I have had a massage from here and it was really good! The pedis were really relaxing, but please inform people of price differences.
**In reply to the manager: When booking over the phone, as that was the only option, noone told me the names of the women doing the pedicures or that one would be charging more. When we got there, we were also not told. I didn't think I'd have to ask how much we would get charged, when online it clearly states how much pedicures are. Only until we went to pay was there any information given on a...
