I don't want politics in my religion. First the positive. The church overall has a welcoming vibe, good music to get you into the spirit, and overall solid bible based sermons, but I was put off by a comment made by Pastor Donnie today. A little personal history, my son and I have been checking out this church, online for a few months now. We enjoy the songs and the bible based teachings, and have been to the Round Rock campus now twice. Today's visit, was likely our last. Most of the time, the rotating pastors steer clear of politics, which I do appreciate. I am there to hear the word of God, the teachings of Jesus, and to help my son learn as well, not to get someone's hot take about the state of local government. Today, during the sermon. Pastor Donnie threw out a red flag when he said he would struggle with sending his kids to Round Rock schools today because of the indoctrination they would receive. I chose not to continue to listen at that point and I left the sermon with my son in tow. At the time of this review, there has been a battle against public education and educators in Texas that have been open to supporting LGBTQIA students and open to discussing and including representation for members of these communities in the classroom. I am an educator and have worked with many wonderful students in these communities and this comment rubbed me the wrong way. There has also been a battle against including Anti-Racism books in the classroom and CRT based teachings. (which has never even been taught in the primary and secondary levels, but i digress) I am unsure as to which "indoctrination" Pastor Donnie feared students in the Round Rock community are undergoing, perhaps both, but in that moment I did not feel the message of a loving and welcoming God was being shared, but rather a person in a leadership position dog whistling to their followers his political views. My son and I will continue to search for a place to learn...
Β Β Β Read moreOf all the sermons your lead pastor probably could have posted for the public to hear to get an idea of how he preaches.... I have to hear the one where he and his wife apparently have this morbid dark sense of humor and dialogue; of, who would you ask to help you kill someone, or each other, and help bury the body. He looks very uncomfortable preaching; so, why would he use this dark illustration in what is suppose to be the house of God!?! To say the least, this did not leave a good first impression.
I have included their response to my review and my response to their response.
Response from the owner: Hi Faith, thank you for taking the time to visit. Most importantly, we are a Bible-teaching church. We teach, preach, and live out the truth found in God's word. Our pastors are fun and relatable, and they always teach from the Bible. We hope you find a church home. Have a great day.
My response to their response: Are you serious!?! Do I really have to tell you..... killing someone and burying them is NOT FUN, nor is it RELATABLE..... especially if you...
Β Β Β Read moreThe people running this church are liars and hypocrites. They do not help people. I experienced this first hand when I was going through a very difficult tribulation recently and needed help. Their "care" pastor does not actually care. He abused his position with the City if Round Rock Police Department to violate my privacy and invade my life. He didn't believe me when I told him about my situation and he told me that I should go back to my abusive marriage and that I can go home without having all of the facts that he had no right in trying to get himself. He's more of a narcissist. It was very disturbing and I never thought that I would be treated like this from a church. If it were a real, Bible believing church, I'm sure that I wouldn't have received that treatment. Jesus wouldn't have approved of that at all. I wouldn't worship with them or sow into this church. It isn't...
