Nestled just east of Giddings, Texas, Kooper Family Distillery is an absolute delight for whiskey enthusiasts and casual patrons alike. My wife and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing their offerings, and we were thoroughly impressed.

From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic charm of the distillery combined with the friendly faces of the staff immediately made us feel at home.

We opted for a flight of their exquisite bourbons, each one crafted with care and precision. The depth of flavor and smooth finish of each pour left us eager to explore more of their offerings in the future. My wife, not typically a whiskey drinker, was delighted by their creative cocktail selection. The strawberry bourbon lemonade was a refreshing and perfectly balanced treat that she couldn’t get enough of.

What truly sets Kooper Family Distillery apart, however, is their exceptional customer service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable experience. Their knowledge and passion for their craft were evident in every interaction, making us feel valued and appreciated as guests.

Needless to say, we will be making Kooper Family Distillery a regular stop on our travels through Giddings. What a gem!!! My better half offered to stop by on our way to Round Top and who am I to turn down a pre-shopping beverage?

Atmosphere: I loved it. Great man cave type feel. Very dark and relaxing with barrels displayed and great lounge seating. What I found really cool was that it smelled just like distilleries we visited a few months back in Kentucky. It was awesome.

Service: The bartender Destiny needs a promotion. She was quick, friendly and crazy knowledgeable. She chatted with us for quite a while about the whiskey and had so many great recommendations for things to do around Brenham. We visited 4 of them and they did not disappoint.

Whiskey: By no means am I an expert, but this was right up there with some of the great pours I had in Kentucky. If you like Ryes, I recommend the Barrel Reserve and for Bourbon we got a bottle of Prodigal Son. Neither will last long in my collection. Simply amazing stuff they are bottling.

Presley was absolutely wonderful during our first whiskey tasting! She was incredibly helpful and informative, walking us through a variety of selections with patience and genuine enthusiasm. We had the chance to try several types—including a bold mask rye, a smooth single barrel, and their reserve bourbon. They’re currently showcasing a rich 7-year black label with a smooth, fruit-forward cognac-style flavor. Every pour felt like a story, and Presley brought it all to life.

As first-timers, we felt right at home thanks to her kindness and deep knowledge. The ambiance added to the experience—oak-aged barrels lining the space and the American flag proudly displayed, evoking the spirit of freedom and tradition from the Prohibition era.
