Doane's is a lovely place to visit. There are easy and moderate trails that run along the brook. The best time to view the falls is after a good rainstorm or early Spring when the snow is melting and the falls are roaring. It is highly advisable if you bring children to keep a close watch on them as there are dangerous rocky and cliff sections to these falls. Any and all defacing of the property is noticed by the wardens.. so be respectful and enjoy nature. There is another part of this collection of Falls that is on Falls Rd. This used to be a lovely drive over a wooden bridge, a few miles up the road there was a welcome/ description sign which is in disrepair and fallen over. Find that fallen down sign, a short moderate hike into the woods and you can view the falls. This has fallen into bad repair, the bridge is gone and the dirt road has not been maintained. I highly recommend only off road types of vehicles such as Jeeps etc horses and walking. It used to be so beautifully maintained down there but now nature has taken over, the road is severely washed out. Use caution when you...

Absolutely stunning and fairly easy trails though they are not marked well. It can be difficult not to go off trail especially with the leaves falling in October but still not too bad. We did a little off trail especially when we reached the middle of the falls there is a way down to the falls but I would not recommend if you are not a decent climber. The trees are magnificent and the area during the week is almost completely free of people. We only ran into a few groups. It's only about a 1.25 one way. The end of the trail buts up to the road which if you follow it down comes to the river cut off for kayaks and a little further down you hit the ranger station and bathrooms. The parking at the top of the falls is very small but again on a weekday not a problem. Absolutely worth the hour and half drive from...

I've lived this area most of my life, Doane's Falls has some truly incredible memories for me and my friends back in the day of our youth I can recall from the best of times with open containers in our hands to the worst of times losing a very special individual to the falls. He was not the first nor the last an that is why the area is posted and there now is fencing and guide wire steel cables keeping folks away from the edge as most tragic accidents happen with a slip and fall. It's a very beautiful place to visit and see wild life as it's everywhere their. Just be careful and enjoy your time on this planet it...

Beautiful place for a day trip with family and friends. A half-mile trail leads down one side of the stream. Moderate walking, strenuous in places. Descend a short stream-side trail and experience a raucous series of plunging falls. Be sure to bring your paddle: the meadow serves as an easy launch site for canoeists and kayakers looking to explore the upper stretches of the intimate river, encountering occasional beaver dam as the water winds through a red maple swamp. Small parking lot.

The trail is not for the feint-hearted senior but totally doable if you take your time and have hiking poles. Kids scrambled over the rocks like baby mountain goats as we stopped to catch our breath. Ahhh, youth!! Who built all the stone walls that zigzag through the woods? As if life wasn't hard enough back then. We heard thunder rumbling in the distance so climbed back out before the high winds and deluge hit. Beautiful spot in Royalston - and then head to Tully Lake to relax.
