People at Carsmart are nice to interact with, but buyer beware you may get a lemon that they will not stand behind. When buying a car I was told they stand behind the cars they sell. In the fist week after purchase the engine started making a knocking noise. When I reached out to Carsmart they told me there is no warranty, but we can schedule a time to bring it in for service at their service shop. Appears they only stand behind the service counter to collect money to repair the broken cars they sell.
Beware when you're looking they say there is 3 months 3000 mile warranty, but if you negotiate a lower price they remove the warranty without telling you in the negotiation the removal is part of accepting the negotiated price. At signing I do remember a document slipped in that said it was as is, but they were fighting me over signing arbitration papers and I was late for work so I overlooked it and am now stuck with a lemon.
They may be nice and may say they back the cars they sell, but when it comes time to backing their words you will be stuck pouring more money into the lemon they sell you.
UPDATE From Owners Response: Dealer did offer to fix the issue, at my cost. This is not standing behind what you sell, seems more a lets sell a broken car and then make more money charging them to fix it. They say they serviced and inspected the vehicle and gave me all the information needed to make a decision, yet the vehicle began having turbo issues pretty much immediately after purchase. Integrity is demonstrated by how a person acts when things go badly, not how they behave when all is going well. CarsMart staff have shown they lack integrity and will stick you with a bad product to make a buck. If you read this, see other reviews here, Yelp, Facebook, etc. You will see a theme of CarsMart getting great reviews when all is well, but once things go bad they will refuse to help you and they will make sure to make up a whole buch of excuses, I mean "reasons" why they were not able to back their word. You can make your own decision, but I recommend finding another place to purchase a car or to have your...
Read moreI purchased our car from David at CarsMart a couple of months ago. I spent weeks searching all over SW Michigan and NW Indiana for a car. I went to lots of dealers. What an awful experience it was! Then one day, after being pressured relentlessly at a couple other places, I came home from a frustrating morning of hunting wishing I could just quit. I sat down, opened Facebook Marketplace to find another handful to look at, and there it was. Beautiful car, right price, newly listed, and nearby. Only bad thing is that it was at a dealer. Having no other choice, I called to see if I could come look at it, even though I dreaded having to tolerate another pushy salesman. Imagine my surprise when I arrived and met David. He was super friendly, answered my questions, and wasn't even slightly obnoxious! I took the car for a long drive, had it inspected by my own mechanic, and came back hoping to work out a deal. David is, against all odds, the rare and elusive honest car salesman. He didn't question my mechanic's diagnosis and ordered parts to repair it right away. He worked with me on the price and got me out the door with a car I love, within $100 of my target all-in. I would, and have, recommend David and CarsMart to anyone looking for a refreshing car buying experience. They also detailed my car and it is beautifully clean and smells fantastic still! My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner.
Congrats David! You have a great thing going! I'll be back when we need...
Read moreI was looking for a car for almost a month and was dealing with several dealerships when I came across Cars Mart. David was honest and so down to earth! He answered all my questions and was upfront and honest the whole way through. I took the car to be inspected by a third party before I purchased it and there was an issue with the battery. David replaced it and I drove off with brand new car and battery! * POST PURCHASE UPDATE. Within the first month of having this car there were two major oil leaks that were smeared with sealants. I took it to David's mechanic and had it fixed at a cheaper rate. Then took a road trip to Chicago a week after the repair and had to put a whole quart of oil in by time I made it to Chicago. This time i took it to my mechanic to find yet another place was just smeared with sealant. I called David's mechanic and he confessed to seeing it and never said a word, even went to say this is something car lots do to prevent leaking to get a sale. So this third leak is yet another major oil leak I am stuck fixing. Then to top it off I have 6 lights on my dashboard.( this is all in the first 45 days) then add cosmetic issues the bumper fell of in the carwash and the side mirror had to be glued on due to being loose. It stalls everytime I reverse now too. I will never ever get another VW nor a car payment. I have bought $500 beaters that needed less work than this. Maybe this was a one off case but either way I...
