I took my 14 year old son for his first golf trip along with my brother this past weekend. It was the first time golfing for all of us. We were questioned as to why we were 10 minutes late upon arrival by the older man at the check in. Let it be known I called 45 minutes ahead of time to let them know of a travel issue I experienced, and told them I would be 10-15 minutes late. We were also questioned as to why we only had one set of golf clubs for 3 people. Again, this was our first time going and it was for my son to use his clubs he was given by his Uncle. Even though my brother and I weren’t going to play the entire time, I still paid for 3 players.
We were not shown where to get our carts, where to meet the starter, or anything after being handed my receipt and even telling the clerk it was our first time.
After spending 10 minutes figuring it out on our own, we started on the course. The starter pulled up to us on our first hole to tell us we were going “too slow” and that the group of 5 people behind us were starting to get “frustrated” and that if we went any longer we would cause a line to form. There was only 1 group of five people at the start at this time and nobody else. We didn’t finish the first hole, skipped the 2nd and went to the 3rd just to create distance and so that we wouldn’t be told we were going too slow again.
After the 9th hole, we stopped back by the check in place for drinks before we continued on to the rest of the course. My brother proceeded to tell me he didn’t want to golf here anymore, as he overheard 3 employees outside the entrance laughing and making jokes about the “3 guys with one set of clubs” out on the course. Mind you, this is a 14 year old child they are laughing about as this was his first experience ever at a golf course and with his family. He overheard the laughter and jokes as well. This was such a disappointing and absolutely disgusting experience for us. We immediately left the carts and got in our car and left.
I’ve never felt more isolated and like I didn’t fit somewhere in my life. This was supposed to be a fun day out on the course for our first experience at golf and it ended in us being made fun of. Throughout the day, we talked about all of us buying clubs and making this a family tradition at the course before this interaction and all of it was wiped out by people who think it’s okay to disrespect others. I hope nobody else who visits this place gets treated this way.
I travel for a living with hundreds of employees who love to golf and seek out new courses across the country. I will be sure to tell them my experience at this course and ensure that nobody is ever recommended to golf here as long as customers are treated this way,...
Read moreCourse is well kept, however PLAYER BEWARE, unless you are well skilled at golf I wouldn’t recommend coming here. A full time employee will harass you constantly to speed up or let another group that’s “better” than you go ahead of you if you aren’t fast enough to their gold standards and forget about simply letting the group behind you play through, they gripe about that too! They take Tee times but constantly overbook and allow walk ins to play and when their poor time management catches up with them due to how many groups they schedule they punish you for their mistakes ushering you to hurry up when it was them who booked too many players to begin with. They are rude, disrespectful, and soil the good sportsmanship of the game of golf. I wish I could say this was a one time occurrence but it has been multiple occurrences. I would not recommend going here if you are new or trying to get better as they will look down upon you and segregate you all because you’re not some pro golfer in the small town of Russellville Kentucky. For reference, my threesome played 18 holes in 4.5 hours and they still demanded we be faster. Where does one draw the line of rushing and being able to enjoy the lax...
Read moreI play here with my husband who bought a membership. The new owners (2025) are very customer oriented. They have improved the course even more although it was nice to begin with. It is challenging but the many water locations, shade trees, and nice cart paths make it a very nice outing for me. The bathrooms are very clean and the carts too which is something I value. Also, this month for our son’s 20th birthday he ordered custom clubs and bag from the pro shop here, also custom grips. The price was competitive and he is very happy with his game improvement. They pro shop staff was 100% about making him happy. High quality, very pleased with their products and service there. Husband also bought a new bag he’s been using his dad’s bag for years so that is special he got a new one he finally felt was a good enough to his dad’s. My husband plays courses in Kentucky and Tennessee both expensive well known as well as small town. He says our Rolling Hills has qualities of the best of both. Also, he says this is a great course for bringing guests whether beginners or...
