On February 15, 2025, approximately at 1:45 PM, while driving in the snow, I lost control of my car due to the ice and snow, slid off the road, and hit a road sign damaging the front left side of my car. I reported the accident and the officer responding recommended that I should get my car towed rather than attempting to drive it.
Being a member of AAA for more than 30 years, I contacted AAA roadside assistance to take advantage of the free towing benefit. The receptionist was excellent. She confirmed that my car was not in the road and said that she would send help soon. At 2:15 PM I received a text message that an AAA technician was dispatched.
Approximately 15 to 20 minutes after this text, Andrew from Lehmanâs towing arrived with this tow truck. He skillfully winched my car onto his truck bed in about 10 minutes. No cleanup was done by Andrew. While waiting, I picked up a couple of pieces of my car and placed them in the back of my car but other than that nothing else was needed. Andrew was professional and personable and kind. When I did not know which auto collision company to use, he suggested that I store my car in their lot located in Enola. Unfortunately, he didnât tell me they charge $75/day for this storage privilege but nonetheless, I did accept his offer to store my car in their lot.
On Tuesday, February 18th, my insurance adjuster informed me that I could get my car repaired and said Lehmanâs towing did not bill AAA but rather me/my insurance. I informed him that I used AAA for the towing; therefore, it was not their obligation but rather AAAâs responsibility. This tow was 30.5 miles and I am entitled to up to 100 miles of free towing; consequently, there should not be a bill.
I reached out to AAA they confirmed that AAA Mid-State dispatched Lehmanâs towing to pick up my car on the 15th. AAA called Lehmanâs towing and was told that because they towed to their lot, they were not charging AAA. Unfortunately, this did not make any sense. Had Lehmanâs towing billed AAA as appropriate, this review easily would have been 5 stars. My contact with them would have simply been with the two drivers that towed my car, Andrew who first towed it to the lot and his father who towed my car from their lot to the auto body shop.
Since Lehmanâs billed me/my insurance rather than AAA, this review is one star. The billing practices of this towing company are horrible! They charged me $228 to get to the scene of the accident and tow my car 30.5 miles which is reasonable. What is not reasonable are all the other charges which included $100 for admin fee, $300 winching (per hour) that took approximately 10 minutes, $685 because of towing a car that had been in an accident, $225 for clean-up (although no clean up occurred), $60 to open their gate on their locked lot, and finally $375 for storing my car in their lot.
In order to get my car out of their locked lot, I had to pay $1973.00 for towing my car 30.5 miles. They put on their bill that it was a private call from customer which was not true. AAA contacted them and I did not. I could go on explaining all the problems I had getting my car out of their lot but will simply say, I believe that they have great drivers but a dishonest and terrible billing practice that will cause this customer to avoid them...

Do not allow this company to tow you auto. They were assigned to tow my van 1/2 mile down the road to a repair shop on Sat. July 8th and they towed it to their yard without my permission. It took me several phone calls and day for them to release the van to me. Theyâre told by my insurance company to release the van and tow it to the original repair shop at 9 am on Wednesday. It took me calling my insurance company several times during the day and have another towing company to tow it My van finally made it to the repair shop right before the closed for the. The reason they refused to release the van was because there were storage fees due. For my van being towed to their lot and parked in an open parking lot in front of the storage lot. In hind site I was told that is the way they roll by another tow truck driver. It is sad that I have been with my van for week, when if they would have taken it to the shop in the first place I would have had it back on Monday. They also damaged the under carriage of my van when they tried to drive it on to a roll back with two flat tires on the right side of my van instead of using the ramps to raise it up. Also because the truck bed was at a 45 degree angle and they tried to drive the van onto the truck the front wheels were spinning and the tire was not which resulted in the tires smoking. Avoid this company by all cost they do not have an EIN number assigned to them nor are they registered...
