Don’t waste your time at this school they will make your life hell and won’t take accountability for it. Most of the staff are terrible people to deal with. If I can sue them I would. They will treat you horribly and take advantage because we are young. I am a single mother who was a nonresident, my counselor was Steven Garnett, and he lied to me multiple times about how many personal leave for childcare and PTO I have left which lead me to getting wrongfully dismissed from School. I dealt with a death in my family and when I sought bereavement, it took over a month to see if bereavement falls under the family member that passed away. During that time Garnett was telling me I should get approved for bereavement and allowed me to miss school using my personal leave for childcare then switch it once bereavement was approved. I wasn’t approved because it wasn’t an immediate family member that passed away. Steven Garnett showed me how bereavement works by pulled out a binder behind him, the whole time I was taking off from school and gave him the proper paperwork about who died in my family he could have just pulled the binder behind him and told me that I wouldn’t qualify. And again I got punished and wrongfully dismissed from school cause my counselor Steven Garnett gave me the wrong information. Steven Garnett didn’t put the proper information in the system and when I asked multiple times to have a meeting to go over my missed days he ignored me. He directed me to speak to Sandra Herndon the Head of the counseling department and she couldn’t make time to help me, or direct me to someone who can, even after I provided her with proof that Steven Garnett messed up my PTO, personal leave for childcare and admins leave she just kept blaming me and telling me it was all my fault. She was horrible towards me and when I confronted her about it she got defensive and flat out ignore me.
I gave them so many doctors notes all the way back in April 16 and it wasn’t until mid June that I was told they couldn’t accept them cause it didn’t meet the “doctors notes criteria” and used that time I took off to go to the appointment against me. The doctors there make it impossible for you to use your medicine. I was suffering from migraines, and in order to get my medicine I had to make a doctor’s appointment. Most of the time they wanted me to get my meds at the end of school. The doctor told me I had a heart murmur and when I spoke to my primary doctor she told me I never had one. Literally the Job corps doctors scared me and misdiagnosed me. The counselors and staff there don’t follow their own guidelines and don’t have a basic understanding of the Job Corps policy book. Please if anyone knows a good lawyer I would like to see if I have a case...
Read moreStaff are often very childish and can come off very rude to some of the students. Also it is noticed the staff like to kind of pick and choose there favorites for instance i witnessed kids trying for weeks to get into the trade they want and just be turned down and another student would come and be automatically switched trades to there preferred trade as soon as possible which can be very unfair and some kids even went a month without a trade and just decided to quit because the staff wouldn't help I've also witnessed and was currently attending joc corps when a student was pushed and shoved by a staff member (teacher) which I thought was very unacceptable the student and other students that witnessed this happened each made statements nun of which had ever been used and the staff member is still there to this day and another thing about the student who was pushed she was a honor student and was one of our presidents that represented our program she was part of a group so u would think the school staff and principal would take this more seriously but of course no action was taken i highly do not recommend going here i was only here a year and I feel like I could have done so much...
Read moreThis was the worst experience ever ! I was there from August until 5 days ago. I was never put into a trade. I got really sick and my counselor who knew absolutely nothing told me that I just needed to put my doctor's notes in and I'll be good to go and I kept doing that and I kept getting in trouble for missing days when I was in and out of the ER the entire time. So I went to school sick did nothing but online schooling. No trade, no work. Nothing. Everybody never contacted one another. They do not communicate. The school is run down. The teachers don't care. I was told multiple times from one of my teachers anytime I got a question wrong. Don't kill yourself. Nobody has any idea what they're doing there doing. It was the worst experience of my life. Never again I was the only one who was in my CPP class that was not in a trade. The only good teacher person I met there was Mr. Hicks who was my CPP teacher...
