While we didn't spot a large number of alligators during our tour, the journey through the pristine waters of Lake Tohopekaliga was nothing short of spectacular. Read moreWe were very disappointed!!! We went around 11:30am in 80 degree, sunny weather. We only saw 1 gator head, 1 gator tail and a few babies. Lots of wild birds and a few cows. No bald eagles or full mature gators. Our airboat captain spent the majority of the ride on his cell phone, driving us 50mph back and forth across the lake. We didn't slowly creep through swampy areas, looking for gators, like we saw other boats doing. After speaking with their office staff, I was told that on sunny hot days, it can be hard to spot gators, they tend to go down into the lake earlier in the day to avoid the heat. We did hold the baby gator at the end, that was fun.
Edited to reply to owner: You did refund me 15% after I voiced my concerns - thank you for that. I bumped you up to a 3-star review for your kind gesture.
I still want other people to be aware that you might not see any gators, they are picky about the weather. Also, even at 30-40mph, our captain, spent the majority of his time on his cell phone. We had seats next to him and he was not messaging other boats or using a GPS of any kind. I firmly believe that we would have been safer if his phone was in his pocket and he was looking at our surroundings. The boat ride itself was enjoyable, the staff were pleasant, the countless species of birds we saw was cool and holding the baby gator at the...
Read moreWe had a great time on our air boat tour. We've never been on one so it was exciting! We had Capt Brandon and he did a great job of telling us some nature facts while we made a couple of stops to observe the wildlife. We saw a pretty big gator and a bald eagle. At the end of the tour we actually got to hold a gator (free of charge!) And take our own picture with it! (Most other places you had to pay to hold them and then pay for a picture). The price of the tour was very reasonable also ($49/adult). Whole you are waiting for your tour, their is a covered patio with fans and picnic tables and you can play some cornhole. They have a little store where you can buy snacks, or bring your own! The bathrooms were clean. The staff inside, that day, Lindsey and Kathy were really nice. For this particular company, you can't book the tickets online ( if you try, it just told me that nothing was available), you have to call them directly to book. I called the morning that I wanted to go and they had time slots available. I was thinking that they probably wouldn't because I was calling the same day that I wanted to go. I was also happily surprised that your money would be refunded or prorated if they had to cancel due to inclement weather! This is a good one to take your little kids on, they will love it, adults will...
