Very disappointed, frustrated, and overwhelmed. July 2016 we put a deposit down to secured our daughter’s wedding date for August 2017, 3:30pm at the Scott County Fair Grounds. We were so excited to have my daughter’s wedding there until we received a disturbing phone call a few weeks ago. The phone call was to inform us that the Fairgrounds booked a Motokazie race the same day as the wedding. They first indicated that the race would start at 7pm, then changed it to go all day; 9:30am – 9:30pm. I raised my concern with the noise, not to mention the double booking, but they said it would not be loud or disruptive…”Really”…If any of you have been to a Motokazie race you know it’s not quiet at all. I have friends and family that live 2-3 miles away and hear it loud and clear! The Scott County Fair Executive Board emailed me the below options: The Scott County Fair executive board has determined that if you elected to pay an additional $3000 you could have exclusive use of the fairgrounds. Please let us know which of these three options you will choose:
7/26/2018 (evening): Attended the Scott County Fair for the first time as an adult. I was surprised at how arts-focused their 4-H displays were, however, it was a pleasant surprise. 3/5 stars due to size/scope of fair as it was smaller than other county fairs I have attended. Pretty excellent vendors - gyros, wontons, and buffalo burgers, oh my! All interactions with food vendors were customer-focused and pleasant. I enjoyed my time at the fair and would more than likely return some day...
Read moreMy wife and I had such a wonderful time at the Scott County Fair this year. There were lots of people in attendance, especially after not having a fair last year because of COVID. They have a great draft horse show along with many other animals. Fun to see the baby animals! I was disappointed in what the 4-H buildings had to offer as well as the Commercial buildings, but that was mostly due to the recent pandemic. I highly recommend...
