I want to begin by acknowledging the kindness and professionalism of the front desk staff and the nurse who assisted us during our recent visit—they were both extremely helpful and compassionate.
However, I feel it is absolutely necessary to share our experience with the provider Con Newman, who we saw, as it was deeply negligent and nearly had devastating consequences for my daughter.
We brought my daughter in due to significant stomach pain and a fever that had been persisting for 48 hours. The provider entered the room and, while initially polite, one of his very first questions was whether my daughter had received the measles vaccine. She had no rash, cough, or any other symptoms consistent with measles—her and my primary complaint was abdominal pain. When I explained that she was not vaccinated for measles, he asked if she was vaccinated at all. After I said no, the exam was rushed and extremely dismissive. He performed only a cursory evaluation and stated, “It’s probably just viral. Antibiotics won’t help her,” and sent us out with no further testing, explanation, or concern.
We followed up with her pediatrician at Utah Valley Pediatrics, the next evening because she was progressively getting worse. They conducted a thorough and appropriate evaluation, which should have been done in the first place. She immediately noticed how red my daughter’s throat was, tested for strep (which came back negative), and when I explained her stomach pain, she ordered a urine test without hesitation. That test revealed a severe urinary tract infection. Her kidneys are now inflamed and she is in significant pain. Due to the delay in receiving antibiotics, there is a possibility she may need to be admitted to Primary Children’s Hospital. Had we followed the advice of the provider at Revere Health and not sought a second opinion, my daughter could have gone septic.
I am absolutely livid and completely disgusted in the way my daughter was treated by YOUR provider. This was not just a poor experience—it was dangerous. The provider’s clear bias and lack of due diligence put my child’s life at risk. This level of negligence is unacceptable and cannot be brushed aside.
I hope this is taken seriously by your administration, because had we not advocated for our daughter ourselves, the outcome could have been, and could still be catastrophic.
We will never return to this...
Read moreIf I could give a negative score for PA McCall Jewett I would. Last weekend I went to the Salem Urgent Care hoping I could get an antibiotic for an infection and confirmation/education on what I had assessed to likely be Shingles on my thigh. I was in pain and miserable and knew I couldn't wait until Monday.
I had the very unfortunate luck of being seen by PA, McCall Jewett.
She was unprofessional. Told me it wasn’t realistic that I had Shingles and it was more likely that I had Herpes, Clamidia, or Ghonnorea. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! I told her I had regularly been tested and that was not a concern. After going back and forth several times I asked her if she was even going to look at the spot I was worried about, but she kept saying it wasn’t necessary.
I insisted she do an exam. How can she treat if she doesn’t look and doesn’t test. I told her that's what I was paying her for and she finally gave me a gown then "examined it" from about 5 feet away with me sitting in an upright position. There was no way she could see if there were any other concerns, nor test for what was needed.
I again asked her to at minimum test for a yeast infection so that I could get an antibiotic if I needed one. She told me she would only do it if she tested me for STDs too. I expressed repeatedly this wasn't a concern and not why I was there. I asked if the list of STDs she insisted she test for presented like what I had told her I was seeing and feeling, but she said no. I told her that I didn’t understand why she insited on doing tests for something I don’t need, and things that aren’t even close to what I’m seeing. Just swab me for what I am asking so I can go home.
She still wouldn’t test without doing a panel for the 3 STDs. When I finally agreed so I could get out of there, she started explaining how the test was done, handed me the swab, then told me to do it myself and leave after I’m dressed. Then she walked out. NEVER IN MY LIFE HAS THIS HAPPENED!
When she updated my record a couple of days later she noted that she concurs with my concerns about shingles and that she gave me medication.
She didn't even get close enough to really see them or check for more blisters, after telling me it was unlikely that I had them, but she concurs?! This is one of the worst medical experiences...
Read moreI took my 18 month old daughter in to get looked at Sunday night because she had a fever and has a history of UTI’s. The nurse said it was likely a virus but I asked for a urine culture to rule out a UTI as I wanted to make sure she didn’t need an antibiotic. The nurse was pretty much clueless and said they didn’t really have a way of testing urine in children that young. I told her we’d used an adhesive bag in the past and that I was willing to wait for her to give us a sample. The nurse said they didn’t have that at their clinic but went to ask anyway. Turns out they did but she said she didn’t know how to put it on because it “didn’t come with instructions.” Well it was placed incorrectly because we waited for a couple hours only to find that all the urine had leaked out into the diaper. She sent us home with another adhesive bag placed only to find later that it has been placed incorrectly AGAIN as it all leaked out a second time. We had to peel the adhesive bag off my baby’s private area twice! And she was already miserable and running a fever. While at the clinic, the nurse also tried checking my daughters throat but couldn’t get her to open her mouth wide enough so she GAVE UP! I took her to her pediatricians office the next day and the doctor found sores all down the back of her throat. Turns out she has hand, foot, and mouth disease all along. If the nurse at this clinic had bothered to try a little harder to examine her throat she would have found this and it would have saved everyone so much time and my baby the pain of having bags stuck on and peeled off of her private area. I will never go here again nor will I recommend this location to anyone. I am disgusted by the incompetence of the...
