Schwan's Distribution Center — Local services in Salina

Been waiting almost an hour to just to get checked in. In that time frame security has processed two trucks. The slowest check in process ever. How is it literally everyone else can get a driver checked in, in under 5 minutes in average and this place takes almost 30 minutes per truck. Some of these guys have just come in to drop a trailer and BT out and it still takes them 30 minutes to get checked in.

Update as of August 2025. Check in process has been sped up significantly since the last time I was here. However they have become super picky about trailers coming in to the point that a little bit of dust which I have NEVER had a trailer rejected anywhere else for in my 7 years of driving, is causing them to reject trailers. Trailers that are clean enough that fresh meat facilities which are known to be a little picky about trailers would gladly accept the trailers these guys are rejecting. Just do yourself the favor and hit the blue beacon up on the way in. OTR Drivers, if you can, avoid this place as much as you can. First of all, I wish I was able to rate them with a zero star, but that’s impossible. Appointment scheduled for 10am, check in at 9:19am and I told to park in the staging area and wait from there. At 10:17am, I received a text message asking me to proceed to the guard shake to be assigned to a door. It took them over 20 minutes just trying direct me where to go. One guy was on the computer and one lady went to check my refer fuel level. When she came back inside, she said I had to have a full tank of refer and not half.

I was sent to a Truck stop to get it fueled up. I went to do as requested and come back. They sent me in staging area again and I had to wait about 1hr more and told me to wait until they text me. No one texted me at all and I had to go back to the guard shake. Around 12pm, they finally asked me to go back and they sent me to park in their parking lot and said someone would come to get me from there. Now it’s 6:39pm and still waiting for someone to come to tell me what food to go to. Stay away from this place for any cost unless you want to be here...

They actually got me loaded pretty fast and ahead of my scheduled( 1830) appointment time today. I am not a night runner as my truck is "solar powered only" lol...don't like to have to use the headlights and this broker set up this appointment time in evening for them to get me completed at night to run in the dark. They got me in there within inside the gate in 1 hr of arriving just before 11am. Loaded sealed and BOL by 1:15 or 130 pm. Including the 1hr waiting to be called inside the gate to enter the property and then inside there waiting on the shuttler/ hostler to assign me a dock# and waiting for the green light was about 3.5 hours( 2.5 hrs actually inside the property)...which is lightning fast speed and efficiency rating for them.
