It has been an amazing experience taking classes at NVC. Most of my teachers are awesome... nothing is perfect in life, but we have to learn to handle situation and focus on your studies... I have learned discipline and I have found the way to do and study my classes. I want to thank all people, stuff, teachers, friends to support me to continue my studies... I Love NVC!!!

Great staff and good expricene so far into my freshman year. The location is perfect for good during breaks and the animals give a nice touch to the campus.

Professors are a luck of the draw, some are great while others have their own ideas of how they are allowed to treat people in order to "weed out" students before students are even considered eligible to have their grades judged - ergo, if you have a family emergency just 1 time, the professor can decide to fail you for missing 1 class, and they will lock you out of the classroom and count you as absent if you leave before they say the class is over which is also considered grounds for failing you, so no bathroom trips either. As I said though, luck of the draw, there are some good professors in there, but it only takes 1 super bad one to screw up your ability to graduate at your best - nothing like paying a jerk thousands of dollars to screw up your life.

They have a limit to how many online courses you can take, like if you take too many online they won't let you graduate until you take more in person courses, even if you have all the credits and necessary classes.

Unfortunately, I have a medical disability and I eventually became unable to afford any more courses let alone attend every single class perfectly and without fail. Not all professors are human enough to consider their students as human beings who don't have perfect lives. Because, man, when I say I can't drive an hour to show up to class because I'm on so much pain medication I can't tell up from down or read the letters on a keyboard... the least you could do is let me go to the bathroom without failing me because I have basic bodily functions to take care of. I'm not a freaking robot.

On the plus side, if you can manage it, this is one of the cheapest colleges you can start out with - as opposed to a technical skills institution. However... I went here BEFORE covid and all the insane price hikes, but when I attended here, a part time job or even a full time job at minimum wage would not have been enough to keep up with the costs. Which is nuts. Maybe, if you had no bills and ate ramen all the time, you could manage it - or if you just did one or two courses per semester.

I never bought any of the food or school supplies on campus, bringing my own food and buying stuff on ebay or whatever worked better for me. I mean, some of those books cost THOUSANDS just to get them the "normal" way, so why do that when I could find the same stuff on ebay for under a hundred dollars??? So what if there's a weird doodle or two, that money is better off getting wasted on doctor visits and medication.

P.S. College is NOT always the answer after graduating highschool. You have WAAAAAY more options than you think. Don't be in a hurry just because you think you "have" to do something. Even if you think you know what you want to do - I still suggest doing some soul searching, self development, or whatever you want to call it, first. Don't let people tell you what is or isn't the right thing to do - you should figure that out...

2 stars, sure the desisn layout of this campus is pretty good compared to some of the other Alamo Community college campus which I have also taken classes at other. Northwest Vista lacks support on a more personal level, a student may be left with feeling that their goals or struggles really mean nothing to the majority staff. I am not sure how the support for female or any other students may be but Alamo Colleges in general needs to due some serious house cleaning because this campus has the most teachers in which teach their own viewpoints which many times contradicts actual reality, philosophy basics (intro to PHIL or intro to Ethics) a lot of this is up for interpretation, how can a teacher know what plato meant precisely. This is a pretty campus but compared to one of the not as pretty campuses 'St. Philips College', what SPC lacks in stylish look, way make up for it in the efforts put towards making sure students don't ever reach their breaking points where they feel like giving up such and such amount of time. This campus is not older adult friendly, you as a number do not matter, they only want the younger students because their numbers look better on their stats. One more thing to add, alamo community colleges has a terrible time communicating to students about who or if they even have an advisor any more, and personal experience has shown lack of caring from 85% -90% of advisors on all campuses, not sure what training is involved but most give bad advice or wrong advice in order to get you outta the door and when you have had scheduled appointments and you sit 30 min past when it was supposed to start and find out that your advisor is just b.s.'ing with a co-worker the whole time not on a break, just utter disregard for valuable time that could be used to catch up on work or study with a tutor. gor how much that is charged per semester times 'X' amount of semesters, you would think that the quality of learning and total all experience would be far superior...

The supporting staff here are sooooo inept it is unbelievable! Let me give you just a few examples. I had numerous holds on my registration account due to a lack of acuity on their part. One of the holds was a first time in college. They already had my transcripts from my previous university. I call to get this removed, the Tier 2 agent says, "I see you have this hold. I also have your University transcripts. So, are you a first time college student?" SERIOUSLY?!!! It took days and multiple phone calls to get that one straightened out because the agents said it would be resolved and for some unbeknown reason it wasn't. Fast-forward a bit. I have finally been able to register and I go to pay for the one class (3 credit hours) I wish to take and tuition is over $2000. I thought that seems a bit steep for a community college. I come to find out they have misclassified my residency. How this happened is again beyond me and some serious oversight on the staff at the college. I was born and raised in TX. I have gainful employment here, I was married to a Texan here, I vote here, I pay taxes.... what's the problem? Easy fix, right? WRONG! After being on hold and disconnected four times (due to the high call volume b/c they are so incapable of properly doing their jobs that everyone attending the next semester has to call) I decided I have to go in person to get the issue resolved. So far, I HATE this college. Everyone needs to be re-trained and with this training they will finally have the acumen to help avoid tedious and unnecessary mistakes that not only put off their consumer base but waste everyone's time. Hoping and praying that the teaching staff...
