Came here for the 2024 Miramar Air Show ✈️. General admission and parking is free but you can pay for bleacher and special seats. They have static displays of different aircrafts and many booths with vendors including local and federal agencies, food, sponsors, and novelty retail. The main attraction, of course, is the flight demos!
Why the 1 star? Entry and admission is absolutely awful for foreigners - the line barely moves and takes over an hour. They then make you wear mandatory neon badges even after checking your ID, taking photographs, and fingerprints! Very unwelcoming experience 💔 The kicker for me? Once I got to the front of the line, they told me I didn't even need to be in this line even though this is the line I was directed to by a military personnel when I asked him where I should go 😠
Portapotties are absolutely filthy and unstocked, there are no areas for seating in the vendor area so people have to sit or stand on the pavement while eating, and it was impossible to hear most commentators during the flight demos. Leaving the base was also an absolute nightmare and took an hour.
Overall, very disorganized and poorly orchestrated. Extremely disappointed in the entire experience and don't...
Read moreI recently had the chance to visit MCAS, and let me tell you, it was quite an experience. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was blown away by the modern and sleek design. MCAS had a great layout, making it super easy to navigate and find my way around.
One thing that really stood out to me was the efficiency of the airport staff at MCAS. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole check-in process a breeze. I didn't have to wait in long lines, and everything was handled smoothly and efficiently. It really made me feel welcomed and taken care of.
The amenities at MCAS were top-notch. There were plenty of shops, restaurants, and lounges to keep me entertained and well-fed during my layover. I even found a cozy spot to relax and catch up on some work. MCAS had a great Wi-Fi connection, which was a huge plus for me.
Overall, my experience at MCAS was fantastic. It was clean, organized, and had all the amenities I needed. Whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, MCAS definitely knows how to make your journey enjoyable. I can't wait to visit...
Read more🚫 Google Maps Keeps Sending Me to a Military Base for the Post Office 😤 Can someone at Google PLEASE fix this?
Every time I search for a nearby post office, Google Maps keeps leading me straight to MCAS Miramar — a military base with restricted access. Unless you have military clearance (which I don’t), you can’t even get through the gate!
This has happened to me multiple times now, and it’s a huge waste of time. It’s not just confusing — it can be intimidating to accidentally pull up to a military checkpoint because of a GPS error.
📍 The problematic listing either points to:
An old USPS on-base location that’s not open to the public, or
A misplaced pin that’s technically inside the base boundaries.
There are perfectly good civilian-accessible post offices nearby, like Clairemont Mesa or Scripps Ranch, but the map keeps defaulting to the wrong one.
🔧 @GoogleMaps — Please update your listings and routing to prevent this. And if you’re in the San Diego area: double-check the post office location before you drive! Don’t let GPS take you into...
