Very peaceful, somber park with 365 degree views of the surroundings. There are a few handicap parking spaces as well as a few parking spots but they fill up quickly. There is an overflow parking lot a short walk down the hill from the memorial. Be sure to take time to review the hundreds of granite plaques honoring former service members from every service. Look, too, for several former US presidents honored here. There are several ramps as well as benches to sit and view the incredible vistas, including the Pacific Ocean. Often on Saturday mornings there may be one or two plaque presentation ceremonies, so plan your visit accordingly. It's open to visitors 24/7. Since moving to San Diego, my family and I have been slowly exploring the city’s hidden gems, and one of our recent drives took us up to a hilltop memorial overlooking La Jolla and Mission Bay. The moment we arrived, we were struck by the significance of the site. At the center stands a towering cross, surrounded by engraved plaques honoring soldiers from every branch of service—a moving tribute that makes you pause and reflect.

I have been here a couple of times with friends visiting from other countries. It's a great 360 degree view of all of San Diego. If you're able to point out the different areas, i.e. Miramar Navy Airfield (which is where Top Gun was filmed) , downtown San Diego, Point Loma, La Jolla, mountain ranges to the East just to name a few spots to point out.
