When I am in San Francisco, I enjoy walking along that bridge. On the East, you have a good view over the Bay and Alcatraz island. On the West, there is the Ocean that goes beyond the horizon. I usually prefer to walk on the East side as there are more things to see. Windproof jackets are necessary most of the time as the wind can be strong decreasing dramatically the felt temperature.
