Whoever says this area is not beautiful is crazy. It may be rugged and a little desolate, but a trip to this area, San Lius particularly, when I was 6 years old changed my life forever. That was 38 years ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was lucky enough to take me 6 year old Daughter and 10 year old son there (with a side trip to Taos) the Summer of 2016 to open their eyes like mine were so many years ago. It was an Amazing trip, and I plan to visit my Aunts Family again very soon.

Peak was as expected. I don't understand what I got out of the $150 it cost to access it. If the access is begrudging, sure. If I'm supposed to get an enhanced experience by paying a private ranch (vs public land), the value proposition is not there. Either make it cheaper or do something better than requiring entrance within a 15 min window at 6am, not telling us ahead we'd be walking 4 extra miles one way to the TH, and having bad quality road signs.

Shame there's a charge to summit Colorado's southernmost 14er-a standout in an off-the-radar range full of gems.

Nice folks, much cleaner 14er than others that are public land. Nice to hike without dogs or other distractions you normally deal with on public land. Don’t mind paying a little more for a good experience. If it were me I would bump my prices up and offer a cabin stay down at the ranch hq. I don’t care for the high fence which impedes elk and other critters movement. This has just about ruined hunting in Texas. I’m sure their 10k a gun elk hunts are successful but that is not real hunting. That is why I...
