I can't say enough good things about ISR and the amazing coaches at iswim4life. The kind, gentle, and patient staff here is great with kids and adults of any age, teaching them a hugely valuable life skill in a controlled, safe environment. They got both of my kids to swim and float within 6 weeks. They also offer maintenance lessons. They have a cute, well-equipped changing and playroom, and a shower if you do lessons before work or school. Lessons are short (under 20 mins), one-on-one to start, and consistent, which is great for kids to avoid burnout or being overwhelmed in long lessons. It's an indoor, heated pool and lessons are one per coach, so they aren't crowded - 2 in the pool at the same time in their own space. My 4 year old had a previous, traumatizingly bad experience with a private swim coach, and my 18 month old was constantly trying to go face-first into any body of water. I had my youngest take lessons first to get the 4 year old used to the idea. Youngest cried the first 4 or 5 lessons which was hard, but Coach T was so sweet and patient that my toddler trusted her quickly and started doing great. I also saw a few kids who were having a hard time, but the coaches handle it well and are calm and consistent.
My 4 year old hated getting water on their face, so Coach T started them slowly. By the end of week 6, they were swimming the length of the pool and diving for rings.
Everyone learns at different paces, so I can't speak for all the students, but generally I saw big progress for other children in their lessons too.
This program could help save you or your child's life. They got my kids used to being suddenly in water (slowly at first , then helped them learn what to do if they fall in). They also taught them not to panic, and how to turn over and shout for help. Coach Spaar also worked with my kids and was great. I'd highly...
Read moreMy daughter just completed her first session of ISR and I hands down recommend this class to anyone with a child over 6 months of age. I loved it so much that I am now enrolling my 10-month old in the program this fall.
I signed up for this program on the recommendation of a friend and didn't really know what the program was all about, I just needed my 3 year old to learn how to swim since I knew I didn't have the ability to teach her myself. And I will tell you that I am now 100% bought into this program and the life saving skills it teaches kids. It is not just about teaching them to swim but about what they need to do when the unexpected happens (they fall in a pool with all their clothes while playing nearby, they trip on a lake pier and topple into the water, they fall of a boat, or they simply fall off a step in a pool while you have your back turned away from them and the many other things that take 5 seconds to have them in an unsafe & unexpected position).
Coach Spaar has an unbelievable talent; she is patient, focused and direct in her teaching. She knows what needs to be taught and the best way to go about it, it is amazing to see just how effective she is at every age and skill level. The skills my daughter has learned this summer are things that will stay with her the rest of her life and we will continue to keep going to coach Spaar for refresher courses.
This is hands down the best money we have ever spent on our girls! Please sign up, commit the time and I PROMISE YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
Thank you...
Read moreI wish I could give Coach Spaar 10 stars!!! This summer we put our almost nonverbal 22 month old son in ISR lessons with Coach Spaar. Quite honestly he was not the easiest student, but Coach Spaar never gave up on our sweet boy and he finally graduated from the ISR program. This was a huge feat but not nearly as ginormous as the advances he began to experience outside of the pool. After starting swim lessons, he finally started to use his words...hearing your son call you mommy and give you a kiss for the first time is PRICELESS! He also started being able to express himself better which translated into less tantrums. We still have our son in swim lessons twice a week. This not only reinforces the ever important life-saving skills taught to him by Coach Spaar, but the time he spends in the pool with his Coach is therapeutic to him. We highly recommend Coach Spaar and the...
