Going to the Sandwich fair is a nice way to conclude the fair season. It's always on Columbus Day weekend, so the weather and season are perfect for the atmosphere of the fair.
It's not the biggest fair in NH, but it is still full of plenty to see and experience.
Prices for food vendors have been going up steadily each year, but I usually try to set money aside during other times for the fair-going season so we can enjoy the kinds of things you might not get an opportunity to have until the next year, like fried oreos or funnelcake.
I personally enjoy taking my time browsing through the agricultural and art/craft exhibits, but if the midway is your kind of scene, there's plenty of rides and games to try out.
I like the way the fairgrounds are organized. There are sort of categorized areas that make it pretty easy to find what you're looking for. Plenty of porto-potties scattered around the grounds as well, and they seem well maintained throughout the fair.
For an extra special experience, we always make a trip up Sandwich notch Rd. and stop at Beede Falls on the way back home. (However, if you plan to do this, make sure your vehicle can handle very narrow unmaintained...
Read moreThe Sandwich Fair is my all-time favorite. I've been going since I was a kid, now 50. Lovely Faire, I love it because it's small, friendly crowds and truly just nice and actually family orientated. Now that I'm older and have some mobility issues, more closer parking for us older folks who can't park way down the road and take a hike to get to the ticket entrance like we used to anymore (wish we could, believe me I do :}). We still love to go to the Fair and it would be very much appreciated if we weren't worn out from having to pay to park so far away on someone's property, or rocky muddy field ( thank God I had a truck with 4 wheel drive back then in that muddy fieldthats downhill from the road... I'm sure you know the one I men...haha, when I was much younger, I didn't give a hoot). Sadly, with my disabilities I need that close parking area. Thanks for reading my comment. Please consider this needed improvement. Thank...
Read moreI haven’t actually been to the fair yet but I want to say the office staff are fantastic. I had spoken to a man about possibly making balloon animals at his food booth but I didn’t get a name and he didn’t call me. When I emailed the fair to give a few details of our meeting and ask if they could figure out who it might’ve been they got back to me in only a few hours with a name. Turns out they were right about who it was and he called me this morning so I will be making balloon animals at the Common Man booth tomorrow (Monday), stop by and see us. I spent most of the day at the fair on Monday and had a good time. The fairgrounds was clean and everybody I encountered was polite. It’s a bit hillier than I would’ve chosen but the hills aren’t steep so...
