Went up by Harriet lake truck broke down, then batteries on trailer died so we posted please help signs 2 days no one stopped at all we finally stood in the road and stopped a forestry truck they took some phone numbers and made some calls my cousin shows up takes us to get cell phone service about 50 miles one way called insurance company they say tow truck is on its way so we go back cousin leaves again no cell service and no tow truck another day goes by finally brother in law shows up brings us home that is day 4 sheriff won't help no one stops Oregon city towing says we'll come another day goes by no tow truck Went the wrong way and went back were still waiting found someone with a satellite phone they said now it's to far so finally get a tow truck to show up to get truck and travel trailer and take them home witch only cost 2300 dollars mountain beautiful but it really stinks that all the sheriff's and the forestry department and tow trucks can't find or help you they just ignore you and leave you there on day 4 the wife hurt her leg didn't matter she then started having panic attacks and no one cared it will be a while before we go back very upset and...
Read moreFor those wanting to ascend Mt. Hood: Intermediate difficulty. Terrain rough but manageable. Time required from Cloud Cap Inn is 4 hours up to Hog's Back at a normal pace and little snow-cover. The road up to the base of the prominence is rough, washing out, and one-lane through a burned-out forest bleached white in the sun. You'll want to ascend early in the morning. We began at about 4:15 AM to beat the crowds. Parking becomes non-existent by noon. There are multiple trails to choose from all leading to lovely areas. Download Offline Maps of the area before the trip if you decide not to stay on the main trails. Lots of small glaciers to cross, but the higher you go, the less stable they will be. The peak itself becomes very unstable in the afternoon. We witnessed rockfall and small avalanches as well as saw a crevasse open up. There's little in the way of vibrant color up there but there are lots of flowers at the time this was typed, and the plant and animal life continues up past 10,000 feet. Read moreFor the adventure lake loving, trail hiking wakeboarding, snowboarding, cyclist, then Mt.hood national forest is the place for you. It has it all. Their is more lakes than I can count on my hands, year round snowboarding with man made snow. But the snow park is turned into a summer park where u can ride the ski lifts up the mountain to really see how spectacular the view of koolest northwest valley you will ever see. They also have marathons thru out the summer one being in July around the 29th but check it out to make sure. Cycling a huge here probly one of the best ways to travel this area and really be able to take in all the beauty that surrounds you up here. And for camper ooooo yaaa there is some of the best camping place you will ever have . But make reservations cause some get booked out a year in advance. So when u do decide to bring the family or just you and the misses to get away for a day or to, I know it will be hard to find things to do up here but I think u will manage.
