I had an older gaming PC that needed upgrading. I bought all the components for the job, but I've lost all interest in working on PC's and decided that I'd just pay someone else to assemble it. I brought everything to this shop and first impressions weren't great. Rod had an arrogance and was oddly condescending, but a lot of electronics enthusiasts are, so whatever. He quoted me at $100 for the job. Pretty pricey for less than an hour of work, but I really didn't want to do it myself. For those who are familiar with hardware, the CPU I left him with was an i5-3570k.

He informed me up-front that the upgrade would have to wait until next week. That's fine. I'm not in a great hurry. A few days later, I decided that I wanted to go with an i7-3770 instead. So, I ordered one, and I sent a text to the business number on the business card, letting him know that I was going to go with the i7-3770 I ordered. I received a text back, the following morning, first telling me it's "not cool!" (I have screenshots of this correspondence if he tries to justify his behavior) that I texted late. Listen: If you don't want people calling or texting your BUSINESS number that's on your BUSINESS card, then don't put it on the card. If that single text disturbed your sleep, then why don't you set your BUSINESS phone to "do not disturb"? I'm sure a tech whiz such as yourself can figure that out. My text was one of courtesy, in case he had planned to proceed with the upgrade before the new CPU arrived. I was very polite, and even included an apology for texting late. I was then asked to provide EXACT specs of the CPU to make sure it would be compatible with the motherboard. This is where his lack of hardware knowledge became grossly apparent. It's an i7-3770. That's it. Every i7-3770 is exactly the same. Same socket type, same speed, same everything. The motherboard I gave you to work with supports all 3rd-gen Intel CPU's. That means every i3, i5 and i7 who's model number begins with a 3. (ie i5-3570k and i7-3770). At this point, I realized that I clearly knew more about PC building and related hardware than this guy, but I tried not to let his attitude bother me too much. I just wanted this job done. Everything seemed fine. When I received the new CPU, I dropped it off at the shop so he could get started when he had time, probably later in the week.

After my PC and components sat in his shop for a week and a half, I received a text message stating that he decided to decline to do this project for me and that I could stop by the shop and pick up my stuff. I drove down there and didn't speak to him. Just made a few trips back-and-forth to my truck, getting everything loaded up. He didn't even offer to help with that. He gave me this speech about how he made this decision for my benefit because they can't warranty the new-in-box components I brought in. I said I understood that. Obviously, computer components sometimes don't work. And obviously, if I purchased them from another retailer, it wouldn't be his responsibility to replace any potentially-faulty components. I would take that up with the retailer or the hardware manufacturer. The fact of the matter is, he sat on this stuff for a week and a half and just decided that he didn't feel like working on it.

He then proceeded to name another shop that might do it for me. And before I left, he had the audacity to ask "If you decide to go there, can you let me know what price they quote you?". I simply replied "I don't think so" and walked out.

I read his (Rod's) response to another reviewer. Perfect example of how rude and unprofessional he is. But I'm actually shocked that he provided details and personal remarks about that reviewer's living situation and business.

Horrible business. Stay far away from them. If you need some work done, there are other options where people are friendly, fair, professional and helpful. I will be so glad to see this business disappear, as it is no doubt...

Thanks for your reply, Rod. Here's mine:

As predicted, Rod posted a defensive reply, attempting to insult me in the process. To put it simply: Rod agreed to do the job. I visited the shop, we discussed what I wanted, he told me what it would cost and how long it would take, I agreed to that. I went out to my truck and brought in the PC and components, left everything with him and it wasn't until a week and a half later that he sent me a text message, telling me that he would be declining to do the job.

He's very colorful in his responses, making a tremendous effort to defame anyone who leaves a negative review. You're only hurting your business by showing the world how slimy you are, and I'm so glad you do that. No "Box of parts" was provided to Rod. In fact, all new components were in retail packaging. My PC works great, by the way. After Rod wasted my time and changed his mind, I took care of the build without him, which is probably something I have more experience with than he does. I'm replying from that very PC right now.

Look at the timestamps of every review posted before mine. Now look at the timestamps of the reviews posted after Rod's reply to me. He has clearly written those himself or persuaded others to do so. Has...

We have an office in Estacada with a staff of ten. We needed our old network and desktops replaced and heard about Red Devil Computers from a Facebook ad. We were hesitant at first due to the name, but their IT Consultant came on site and we were impressed by his knowledge and years of experience. We had them basically over haul everything, from our aging network, server and desktops to the applications we use. We had gotten a couple of bids prior to meeting with them and they came in well below the others and we're very satisfied with the results! We like the fact they're a locally owned family business, they're not large but we...
