Love this place! I have been wanting to visit for many years now after reading about the connection with one of my heroes, Charlie Daniels. Took the bike down and, after taking a few pictures, wandered inside. Upon opening the door, I was instantly taken back to the old country hardware and general stores in the small mountain towns where I grew up in my beloved mountains of western North Carolina. The mixed smell of feed and grains along with other long forgotten "hardware fragrances" took me back to Yancey Builders Supply in Burnsville, where my grandmother and I would go to pick up essentials that were needed in the garden and for the house and barn. This store is perfect. Shelves were crammed full but orderly. A thin layer of dust in some areas. Men's suspenders, cast iron cook ware, bird feed, electrical conduit, chicken wire. It's all here. If you can't find it here, you don't need it. Great selection of boots, jeans, and bib overalls, and my most favorite, the pocket knife display. There were so many trips growing up to the old hardware store where I'd have my eye on a new knife. I didn't have the money to buy one. My grandmother didn't see the need when I had a good sharp one in my pocket and a couple more at the house. I enjoyed my knives and still do.
