No need to chase waterfalls at Channel Islands National Park when spring rains will bring them to you! Recent precipitation on the islands provided this gorgeous view of a waterfall flowing near the mouth of Painted Cave, as viewed from an @islandpackers vessel. However, recent rains have also rendered many popular trails wet and muddy! Visitors should expect slippery conditions on park trails, and take extra care when hiking at an incline or near sea cliff edges to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. #ChannelIslandsNationalPark #PaintedCave #FindYourPark #EncuentraTuParque [Videos: A waterfall at the mouth of Painted Cave on Santa Cruz Island is shown from three different vantage points, while the song “Waterfalls” by TLC plays in the background. The Painted Cave is the largest sea cave in California (and the 4th largest in the WORLD)!! It’s 1227 feet long (that’s more than 4 football fields!!), almost 100 feet wide, and the entrance stretches 160 feet above the water level to its ceiling!! The rainbow of colors you see on the cave walls are created by various rock types, lichens and algae. It’s located along the cliffs of Santa Cruz Island in the Channel Islands National Park and you can only visit it via the park’s only concessionaire Island Packers Cruises. The captains skillfully navigate into the giant cave opening and slowly drift you as far back as they can. Once we got inside, the captain turned off the engines and all we could hear were the echos of the seabirds chirping and the gentle lapping of the waves - what an experience!! Highly recommend! Shout out to the awesome captains and crew over at island packers for this adventure! They are incredibly skilled in these challenging environments and are the only way in and out of the cave and out to the islands - I’ve always had such a great time with them over the years!

Not really worth it with one hour of motion sickness. If you come with the cruise, they only approach here very close for 10 min. I would say anything in Alaska is much more impressive.

Take a kayak for a breathtaking and serene experience.

This is one of the largest and deepest sea saves in the world. It gets its name from the radiant lichen and algae decorating the surface.

Bring appropriate gear or go in a well...
