Healthy Way Dairy — Local services in Santa Fe

After hearing rave reviews about the quality products & needing to make some dietary changes in our family I decided to give Healthy Way Dairy a try! I was surprised to find a seemingly small dairy at the dead end of a road... To the left is a large 2 story home, to the right is a one story home with a barn & milk in pen areas. Behind that is a pasture. Directly in the center of it all is a tiny shack, but that is the place of magic! Two refrigerators are full of fresh milk, keifer grains & eggs from Kens Hens daily! There is a small freezer with fresh frozen chickens & a shelf with local honey, goats milk soap & a few other items for sale. Also, an ice machine is available for your convience. Be sure to bring a cooler if you aren't a local! I brought a "freezer bag" from the store designed for frozen foods. It worked, but a cooler will be much better in the future! If you're from far away bring a sharpie to leave a message on the wall! People come from all over the country & it's fun to read the comments! The payment forms accepted are cash, check & card (online). Payment is on your honor as the little shack is unmanned from time to time. Be sure to log your purchase on the notebook provided, sign up for their email notifications & check out their Facebook page! Discount sales are frequent due to lots of happy producing heifers! I selected milks from Rosie, Sugar & Isabel. All were absolutely delicious! I understand they bring the cows in for milking around 5pm & their are opportunities to watch the heifers & maybe pet the calfs as well! I plan to take my grandkids the next time! What an adventure visiting the dairy...

Found out about Healthy Way Dairy from a friend at work and couldn't be more thankful! They have the freshest raw milk! Apparently, they're very well known within the community and sell out of their milk a few hours after they put em out so if you want some, you have to plan to get there early! They milk their cows twice a day and have them out by 7A and 7p! If you're planning to come, you might want to check out their Facebook page first. Every day they post the time they're out of milk in order to save you a trip out to the farm!

If you happen to make it it to the farm, you pull up and park on the side of a cute tiny little red house. It's first come first serve, so if someone is in there, just wait your turn until their finished and come out. When you walk in, they have a couple fridges ou then open the fridge and select which milk you want from which cow. They have a list of names of each cow in case you'd like to see what type of cow they are. Certain cows are sweeter than others. If you're lactose intolerant, they have cows with the A2 gene that some who are lactose intolerant may be able to digest better. (These cows are highlighted on that sheet as well.) Once you choose your milk, you write your name in a book with how many gallons/half gallons you've bought. You can also leave cash or venmo your payment. I suggest bringing a big cooler (they have ice for you there) to keep your milk fresh and cold!

This is family run and we occasionally see the family outside. Definitely a blessing to their community! Thank you Healthy Way Dairy...

After researching the microbiome benefits of raw milk, I was happy to discover this farm right around the corner from me. I've never been a milk drinker because I find the flavor off-putting and frankly I just dont trust the government to have my best interests in mind. But I've been intrigued by raw milk and all of the beneficial bacteria it offers. I expected to gag with the first sip, but I loved it!! I cant believe I've been missing out all these years. The cows here are clearly well taken care of and the facility is very clean. I trust them enough to be drinking while pregnant (Yes, I said I'm pregnant and I'm drinking raw milk. I worry more about listeria from eating bluebell icecream.) The milk is creamy & so delicious, and you get to pick which cow your milk comes from. The lids are labeled with their names and the date of milking. We picked Coco and she did not disappoint! We also picked up a dozen eggs and a jar of kefir. The kefir is also thick & delicious.
