The groundbreaking ceremony for the Saratoga Springs Utah temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints will be, Saturday, October 19, 2019. Elder Craig C. Christensen, Utah Area President, will preside over the event.
The groundbreaking is by invitation only. The groundbreaking may be viewed by the public and members at local meetinghouses in the area.
The temple, which was announced in April 2017 by then-Church President Thomas S. Monson, will be located near the new Beacon Pointe subdivision, which is west of Redwood Road and north of Meadow Side Drive, Saratoga Springs, Utah.
Plans call for a three-story temple of approximately 87,000 square feet. An adjacent 21,000 square foot meetinghouse will also be built.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints temples bring some of heaven to this earth.
In the Bible, Old Testament, Isaiah 6: 1-6, a prophet of Christ, in a vision, saw God, who talked to him. This prophet Isaiah also described Jehovah's temple's in the Bible, Old Testament, Isaiah 2: 2-3, 1-6: " And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. "
Temples differ from the meetinghouses or chapels where members meet for Sunday sabbath worship services.
A temple is considered a “house of the Lord” where Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity. Inside, members learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to serve Jesus Christ and...
Read moreThis was a large Temple. We went there for a sealing and the sealing room we were in can accommodate 68, that is a large number. The Temple has 3 levels. We have a family member in a a large automatic wheelchair and the elevator fit the wheelchair and 4 of us. The doors were wide enough to easily slide my family member's wheelchair in and out of. There was also lots of spacing in between sitting areas, couches and hallways. In the sealing room, there was plenty of room for the wheelchair to maneuver.
When we went outside to take pics, there were wheelchair accessibility ramps all around the Temple. The wheelchair was able to go all over wherever the photographer needed us to be. This is an awesome feature!
The building itself is magnificent; we admired the stained glass in the sealing room we were in as well as the beautiful chandelier. The color schemes were beautiful and my wife pointed out that the color scheme of the room also matched the stained glass.
It was great to be inside and feel the spirit. Although there were a little over 40 of us in the room, there was a quiet gentle spirit we enjoyed. The sealer shared a great story that happened during the Open House of the Temple with Elder Christopherson.
He said Elder Christopherson attended the open house of the Temple in 2023 and pointed out 2 things that I did not consider before.
He said Elder Christopherson taught them that in the endowment room, we give God all that we have. We make a covenant with him and promise to keep those covenants. Then he pointed out to the couple that in the sealing room, they are being given all that God has. God promises them that they are able to have EVERYTHING he has.
What a beautiful promise that I did not think of before. I am grateful to have sat in that sealing and learn something new. Temples are awesome but this was a fun sealing...
