My Father-In-Law was buried there Jan 2023. At that time his widow provided the cemetery with a check for $900 plus dollars to have the date of his death added to a headstone that was already in place at the cemetery. Our family went to the grave site at Thanksgiving to pay our respects, no date of death on headstone. I called and was assured it would be on there by Christmas. Family went to visit Christmas day, no date of death. I have called several times only to get an offsite answering service. I have request several times for a call back from the cemetery and received none. If there was zero stars I would give it too them.
UPDATE:1-17-25 As directed in the reply to my original email I contacted Alberto. It took several calls to their offsite answering service but he finally called me back one evening. I explained the whole nightmare Abbey East has created for my family. He offered several excuses about paperwork being misplaced and ...... He agreed it was gross negligence that it has taken almost a year to get the date of death put on the headstone. He would make it an "Urgent Task" to get it ordered and put on the headstone. We even discussed getting it done by 27 Jan, the 1 year anniversary of the burial. I asked for a direct phone line to him to check up on the progress every 10 days. He would not give me his phone number, but instead gave me his business email to communicate with him. I used the email and received no response. I have called the cemetery the last 3 days. Usually, I get the answering service. One day I got thru to a lady named Lauryn who said she would look in to it and get back to me that day, she did not. I contacted her again today and was told she would have Alberto get back to me today, he did not. The management of Hillcrest Abbey East reply turned out to be another time our hopes were raised only to be...
Read moreI went to visit my grandmother’s grave today. I’m not local and it had been awhile. I wasn’t absolutely sure my memory would lead me to her grave. I couldn’t find an office or a map. I called the number listed to see if I could find help locating her grave. A lady answered and said she wasn’t on site but would relay my message. I asked her how long would it be before my call was returned. She said she didn’t know because everyone was busy with other matters. I also asked her how often the grass was cut because the cemetery looked unkept. She said she would relay my message. Fortunately, I located my grandmother’s grave by memory. 8 hours later and I still have had no return call from the staff. When I was leaving the cemetery I saw 3 men standing under a shade tree. 1 with a backhoe, 1 with a lawnmower, and 1 just there. None of them were working at that time. I surely hope that one small riding lawnmower isn’t for the entire cemetery. If I could afford it. I’d have my grandmother, her parents, and her sister moved to the cemetery right next to Hillcrest Abby East. It was pristine. I don’t have a photo to...
Read moreWhere to start? First, every time you deal with these crooks they charge you $95 to fill out paperwork. If I had known that, I would have bought the headstone when I paid for the burial. Second, while the average cost of a burial vault is just under $1,900, their cheapest model is over $400 more than that. They also charge you nearly $400 to install it, on top of the $1,600 to open and close the grave. It’s a good thing we already purchased the plot decades ago, I’d hate to think of having to add that to what I just did. Finally, my grandmother is also buried there. Her headstone disappeared in 2005 literally days after they buried the gentleman next to her. At the time I called and was told they aren’t responsible for damage, even if they caused it. The new management assures me that wouldn’t happen with them , if I want to spend another five grand to replace the headstone. Well, I found the headstone BURIED SIX INCHES DEEP. So much for...
