Tannery Falls is a beautiful 80-foot waterfall in Savoy Mountain Forest. We visited for a short hike with our dog. The trailhead is down a gravel forest road under a mile from Black Brook Road (paved). The road is a little rough but should be driveable in most 2WD cars, just take it slow. There's a big gravel parking area and a short blue-blazed trail leads down to the waterfall. Near the end of the trail, it gets a little steep with some stairs. When you get to the base of the stairs, look to the right to see Parker Brook Falls. It's not quite as big or impressive as Tannery Falls, but really cool and unique as the creek flows down through jagged, angular rocks. Don't miss this cool bonus waterfall. The base of Tannery Falls is just another hundred feet or so on the trail, with a nice open area near the pool at the base to relax and enjoy the view. Awesome spot and definitely worth a stop if...

Lots of stairs going down and up again. We counted close to 200. Good hike for older kiddos or kiddos in carriers. I took my son when he was 5 and had to be super careful when going down. Our 4 legged friend had a great time as well.
Quiet area. We have only experienced 2 other cars in the dirt parking lot. The GPS also send you to the 1st driveway which is only meant for one or two cars. The parking lot with a small sign leading to the falls is about 10-20 seconds...
Read moreVery quiet because you cannot GPS it. The road is not listed so you have to find the small sign that says "Tannery Falls". I am 6 months pregnant and the hike was good. There are a lot of stairs and they are steep so if you cannot do stairs this isn't for you. There are 2 falls under the same name one is steeper one is great for wading. Have a 5 year old and she did a great job on the hike. Plenty of rocks for climbing. Recommended.
Tips: Be very careful on the road signs posted stating the road is not maintained. Travel the road about .25 of a mile and you see a pond on the left and a parking area...
