Higgins Beach Market — Local services in Scarborough

Today I went to this place and purchased 7 meals, some of which were mediocre, some were bad, and some were decent. I would strongly recommend the fish tacos, they were crunchy and had all the components i would like in a fish taco. The cool avocado complimented the chipotle sauce. The burgers were… more like three guys(on the five guys scale). They meat itself was not flavorful and the bun was a bit sog. The meat tasted freshly slaughtered, I would know as I am a skilled farmer and have a lot of experience in the fresh meat field. The pork sandwich should’ve been called a mustard sandwich, there was way too much bread and mustard and not enough pork. The chicken wings were decent but the sauce tasted funky. The fried was so large it’s like they took a fish out of the ocean, put batter on it, and fried it raw. Overall I would rate my experience a meh on the gagmazing scale. The salad wasn’t anywhere near to Olive Garden, my standard. I really think place has potential and I’m excited to see what happens...

There's an old saying related to cars that you can have fast, reliable, and cheap; pick two. With the market (as of June 2025) it seems safe to say you can have fast, cheap, and good; pick one, and it's going to be a surprise.

The market has always been a bit pricey, but my wife ordered some pizzas (the Greek is closer to a dough frisbee) that were supposed to be ready in 20 minutes according to the online order and they took well over an hour. The cheese pizza was okay, but the Greek....just looks like a poor highschool kid got overwhelmed and tried their best. Maybe that's the case.

Breakfast sandwich was lacking any filling (got just an egg and cheese and it must have been one singular egg). Baked goods are solid at least. Don't be in a hurry and expect to pay a lot, and don't order the Greek pizza unless you really like jarred minced garlic on dough with no sauce and no cheese other than some feta).

Building smelled like fresh timber, so...

Loving the offerings at HBM thus far. Morning pastries, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches are EPIC! Lunch sandwiches have also been very good. We got the dinner entrees tonight (halibut and sausage and peppers, chicken was already sold out) along with a greek salad, roast veggies, and the savory bread pudding. So, so, good! Families tired after a long day at the beach? Parents can have a lovely meal and kids can enjoy some pizza and fries back at their cottage. A nice selection of beer and wine also available for the evening. I will say that I agree with some of the other reviewers that the "market price" items (lobster rolls and fried clams) are not a good value and it may be better to go elsewhere for those.
