This gym has the potential to be a fantastic gym for people stationed at Randolph. However, for a few reasons, if I can avoid going here, I will.
It is one of the busiest gyms I have ever been to. As active duty, I cannot go to the gym before work, during lunch, or after work without having to navigate hordes of people. Often, every single cable, free weight

Google maps will make you go in circles and you'll never find it with that app. It makes some sense that it wouldn't be accurate on a military installation, but it was still irritating. Google will put you in a parking lot on the far side of the track with no way to drive to the other side. If you see the pool you're close. Park directly in front of the rambler facility, unless part of what you want to do is walk to get there. I hate Randolph's layout. Yes, it's cool, if you back out: the streets are laid out to look like a tank. But it's horrible to try and drive. Once we got there my son had to wait his turn with the barbells, but they were busy. I did use the locker room and it's huge and impressive. Great weight room and lots of choices on how to spend your time in it. There are even benches for people like me (I had already spent a couple of hours in 100 degree heat gardening), to sit and read a book as I waited for my son to finish. Great place for retirees and dependants to go to...

Although closer to Lackland AFB, I decided to go to the Rambler Fitness Center at Randolph AFB because they said that since I was on TDY I could use their DV locker room which has towels. I am a DAF civilian and retired military, and when I got to the fitness center and showed them my retired ID card they said that the option to use the DV locker room was only available to active duty on TDY. It's okay that they inadvertently mislead me, but the right answer would have been to make an exception to their rule or go into the DV locker room and get a towel for me to use. The front-desk personnel did not agree with either of these COAs and instead provided me with three small shop-rags (see picture). While permitting me to exercise, their execution could have been more...
