Always peaceful. Decent fishing when you can find deep water. Way over populated with gar.

We take either inflatable rafts, pool toys, and even air mattresses and float down the river. We call this redneck river rafting and it’s hella fun! Been doing it since we were kids and since our own kids could walk and they are all teenagers now! Water has definitely been clearer
The biggest thing to note about the Scioto is where the deeper spots are. We have a set route we go on every year and know where it’s a bit deeper but I highly recommend wearing life vests and taking a long pole or an oar to help navigate. Even if you’re familiar with it you’ll want something to help move your “raft” away from the banks when it drifts & also to check the depth. Safety first and obviously don’t take any risks.. as long as the water isn’t too high it’s a great place to float! We’ve taken an inflatable raft in when the water was pretty high. Not something I would recommend unless you are fully prepared safety wise/good craft, know how to swim, and have something to navigate the river banks/current with. When the water level is pretty low the river bed is very rocky so we always wear lightweight shoes that won’t fall off to prevent injuries because we walk it a lot...

Fishing is poor even in the boutique ponds. Passersby vision is heavy if you're trying to set up camp midday and want privacy. Upside nights are quiet as you have to really hike to any zone if you can beat busy hours or reserve off season. Hiking wise or if you have a family; it is perfect for a daytrip. Lots of playground equipment for the little ones. Good for dog owners too. Disc golf is unbelievably hard when it's overgrown and you will lose discs. Archery is done well with walkabout season and ranging season. So archer's will have...
