Dear everyone who shot 100 and thinks it was the courses fault, your misinformation is deterring people from playing this wonderful golf course. The course maintenance is incredibly meticulous, from the patterning of the fairways to the contouring of the approaches and the surprisingly fast greens. For where the course is located, which is in my back yard, it is simply amazing the ground crew can keep it looking like a players club course year round. The front nine will test your Tin Cup “I’m going for it” while the back will test your, “shouldn’t have gone for it”. The course is challenging yet rewarding, fairly open so you’ll have to play for some wind on some shots, par threes are open but protected extremely well. Overall this course is my personal favorite out of all I’ve played. Reds whites or blacks you’re in for a challenge. Greens are soft enough yet fast enough to really test your control of the ball, and the bunkers are always soft and will dust you if you’re inexperienced from them. This course deserves six stars but I can only click 5. Staff is always friendly, and prices are exceptional. My buddy and I played today and were squeezed in to be able to play nine even with a league going on, unlike some courses where it’s on lockdown until the next day. I’ve played 4 times this week and would recommend this course to anyone who wants to sharpen any aspect of their game. One snippet of advice for this course, Drive for show, putt for dough....
Read moreSplit Rock Golf Course use to be really nice track 15 years ago. Now, especially after COVID19, it's struggling to maintain the Course. The tee boxes had a lot of divots as well as the putting greens. I would also find my ball in a divot in the middle of the Fairway, I would have been better off hitting my ball in the rough than the fairway. I counted 12 greens that were impossible to put on, due to the fungus dirt patches. I faired better chipping on these greens rather that putting. Maintenance is very minimum at best, and it's what I call shrinkflation. Split Rock Golf Course ownership only care about lining there pockets with as much profit possible, while only meeting the minimum maintenance required to charge customers the maximum amount possible. It cost me $49 to ride 18 holes on Saturday, which is extremely disrespectful to charge that amount, especially when I had to drive 40 minutes to the course. I could have played at Mental Memorial Golf Course for $48 to ride 18 holes, and also Raymond Memorial Golf Course first $52 to ride 18 holes and these two courses are very well maintained. My recommendation to all golfers that want to play golf on a well maintained course and feel it's worth the money spent to Play, you should consider the Columbus City Golf Courses. I wouldn't give Split Rock Golf Course any star, but I had to give one star to leave a comment. I'll never play at Split Rock Golf...
Read moreCourse is fun with some nice shaped holes and overall not too hard. Definitely a good number of holes where you can really try to bomb a drive without worrying about losing your t-shot.
I appreciate that there's a driving range, especially one that's long enough for woods and drivers. Always hard to warm up if there's no range or it's distance restricted. A plus for me for sure. Staff in the clubhouse was great, cashier even ran out to the range to give me $4 when he realized he overcharged for the wrong sleeve of balls.
I'd say at least half of the tee boxes and greens were definitely in what I'd characterize as "rough" shape. For me, this was made up for by other aspects of the experience. The GPS tablets in the carts were a new addition since the last time I was here a few years ago, and they were nice to have. Rangers were out on the course and visible, mid-day on a Tuesday. The pace was great, I was in a two-some behind two foursomes and we were not waiting often, one backup on a par three and again on a reachable par 5 but otherwise we were not waiting, finished the round in under 4 hours so can't complain! Will...
