I had been to the old location in Huntsville and was a little underwhelmed, but I've been following the Scottsboro location on facebook for a while. I am remodeling an old home, and like everyone else, need to save some cash. I love salvage yards, yard sales, overstock outlets, etc. and am certainly accustomed to a little disorganization and inconvenience, but it's usually worth it to save some money, even if you do have to walk what seems like miles through a cold, damp and dark warehouse. I drove about an hour, expecting to at least bring home a few items. You'll find everything here from toilets, doors, tile and other household items to makeup and toiletries. Usually this is like a playground to me. Unfortunately, most of the items I looked at had no price. I understand the sheer volume they are dealing with, but it's a huge warehouse and i can't be bothered to walk up to the front for every item. When I did see prices listed they were not the "around 50%" general rule I was quoted was closer to 80% or more and many items were stained, dented, dirty and without a box. A family member walked a small item up front with no price tag, nor any indication that the item worked. The employee literally looked it up on her phone right there and quoted the online new price to her. I'm sure there are some deals to be had here but the majority that I saw was certainly not worth the drive or hassle. I would say the larger items are going to be slightly cheaper than Lowe's or Home Depot, but at those places it is new, is easy to find, and has a warranty, even if it is 20-30% more. On top of that those places offer delivery or easy pickup. Online places like Wayfair, Overstock, etc. make it really hard to justify...
Read moreIf you want to browse around and bargain hunt this is not the place to go. You must know what you want when you arrive and staff will get it for you picking of course the best of the lot, the price will be set as they bring it to you. I read prices are 30 to 50% off retail. I wonder if that is high retail or low retail? I expect at least 70% off items of questionable quality. Not recommended.
My story: I drove over from Huntsville on this cold rainy day to find all manner of "items" in standing water arranged in rows in no particular order. After getting my feet soaked in the flooded lot and everything else wet by the pouring rain I reached the large wide open roll up door entrance which was semi-blocked by four employees who were very busy.....complaining about their job. As I hurried past the "staff" to get out of the wet I heard the chorus of panicked screams "YOU CAN'T GO IN !!". Stunned since the door was opened wide and it looked dry inside I replied "why not'" , "we're not open yet", "what time do you open" so it was then that I learned that you have to use Facebook to find what you want then the "staff" will go get it for you. What? We were also free to wade around and look at the merchandise that was outside in the rain though which we did. No prices on anything! Not feeling like splashing back to get a price I left aggravated and disappointed. I really was looking forward to browsing for bargains. If only I had read the...
Read more2 weeks before businesses shut down because of virus..I had shopped at the Meridian location. I had purchased several hundred dollars of items. So, many I had to use a Uhaul to pick up..I had purchased 2 mats for children one for grandson one for granddaughter came with characters to play on rugs that are printed, really cute...when I got home and unloaded truck. I had forgotten the two play rugs..i couldn't find a phone number so I looked them up on Facebook. I messaged them.they said they were at the desk. Mike the salesman had put them up for me..this was 2 weeks before everything came to a halt. Today, I finally went to Huntsville to see about getting the two mats. Mike was not there but the two people working found them taped together, waiting for me to come retrieve them...its been so long, I really wouldn't have fussed if they had sold them, because I really should have gotten them during the two weeks before everything shut down...Im thrilled to say they were there and I had no problem collecting them...I really enjoy...
