I have met and become family with the most amazing people here. After I made the hard decision to leave my church of 30 years, I wanted to give Papago Buttes a try. I never imagined I would feel so welcome and loved somewhere else and by such a smaller church. This is a smaller church always looking for the next thing to make a big impact on. They are always looking for ways to reach out to the community and each other. A big group of this church cleared their schedule to help my family move into our first home. My wife and I both grew up in the Church of Christ. (Her in Detroit; me in southern Illinois.) We were members and attending a local Church of Christ regularly. About 15 years ago, that congregation became too party political for us. (We wanted neither right nor left, just Christian.) After deciding to look for another church, we visited several and just did not seem to find the right fit - in local Churches of Christ or other churches we visited. Papago Buttes Church of the Brethren is a special place. Having attended several churches in the Valley, I am happy to call PBCOB our church home! Pastor John Chubb is an incredible teacher and the congregation is more than welcoming; this community cares for and serves one another.
