PSA: The Worst management ever (Ms Thompson) we purchased a $150 birthday party pckg. schedule for October 18th 1-4pm. Some of my guest arrived at 12:45 only to be told to Wait in the narrow/small entry! Once I arrived at 1:00, I too was told to Wait in the entry while (MsThompson) rudely an argumentatively try to figure out who was on my guest list? After standing there for over 40 minutes me, my mom, and my guest where extremely frustrated! She was asked; "why can't the guest she checked off the list go inside while she talk to the person on the contract"
I immediately asked for management, only to learn (Ms Thompson) was the manager. She wanted to argue back/forth with me about the contract guest list and said who ever took my money and booked my party- contract should've explained it. (Fatima) and another young lady who had just arrived came over to try an apologize for (Ms Thompson) behavior, "that she didn't know how to explain or address people". Got to the party area, my table- red plastic $1 dollar store tablecover w/$1 plates and cups ($5 ea guest, $3 skate holder, $2 extra plates, napkins get off wall napkin holder) the worst
Try to make the best out the worst situation I asked (Ms Thompson) for the 40 minutes delay into party time what was she going to do to accommodate? I suggested refund (some) or extend the party time by 40 minutes. She cut me off rudely, told me she's not talking about it anymore and slammed the door. (Fatima) after witnesses the behavior once again apologized for (Ms Thompson) at that point I told her that's *Unacceptable

Read moreI haven't been to this place since it was Wheel a While. I checked the website ahead of time to ensure that it was open on a Tuesday. There were an assortment of blocked off skating times reserved for group lessons and private parties, but not during the time we arrived. When we arrived the woman at the desk stated coldly "why are you here?" and informed us that they were closed for a private event. When asked when they would be opened again she said "I don't know." Ma'am why are you working here when you don't know the operational hours?!?
When we left, two gentlemen came outside and stated that they worked there. They were kind enough to tell us that they were closed for a private party and pointed to the sign posted near the door that said Tuesday Hours "-- Closed". I simply told them that their website should be updated to state that they were closed. One of the men said that they would inform the general manager, who immediately came out looking like he was ready for an argument..."What's the problem?!" I told him that his website didn't say they were closed. He then smirked at me and said "it also didn't say we were open" and turned around to go back inside.
That was all I needed to hear to know that he wouldn't be getting our business ever again.
I totally understand the miscommunication but the hostility he and the woman at the front desk met my family with was totally uncalled for. We were simply looking for a fun afternoon for an 8 year who has never skated before.
I'm sure they will be responding to this review with some sort of snark, but if I could spare one other person from experiencing this type of customer service from a community based business, then my...
Read moreI'm frustrated by our experience at Lanham Skate Center yesterday and want to share here because I'm just so mad! I took my kids to skate yesterday and was told my daughter could not bring in water. I was directed to the 'no food and drinks' sign. The manager said she would need to buy water inside. My daughter has type 1 diabetes and under ADA law is allowed to have special foods and drink to treat high or low sugars, which can come on very quickly. Water is the first thing we would try during a high sugar episode before having to give insulin. It is common to have sugar spikes during high intensity exercise. I informed the woman at the desk that there are special accommodations for diabetics under the ADA laws that allow her to have access to medications and supplies that are vital to her health. She insisted that they were a private company and didn't have to abide by the law . I spoke to the manager, David, who said the same thing insisting we purchase water. I told him he was breaking the law and he said he would talk to a police officer inside. I also asked to speak to the officer who agreed with me but said he could not enforce the law. He was sympathetic at least but said we'd have to sue them if we wanted to report discrimination. We have been to water parks, airports, museums, and even the movies being allowed to have her supplies. When I asked for the name of the woman at the register, she wouldn't give it. To recap, we were only asking to bring a water bottle for a child. Having a disability is hard enough for a child, but to have this scene where the adults are saying she can't bring her supplies, was scary and upsetting. Her sugars spiked just experiencing the...
