THIS IS A MUST READ* LIFE OR DEATH MATTER*
So I brought friends visiting from out of town, (1 )man, (2 )women and (1) 11 year old. Although the staff was very polite, there was a lot of red flags that popped out at me with this place that I should have never ignored.
Here goes:
My vehicle was not able to make it to the destination, so they picked us up in a truck. They had a double cab truck in which at least the women and child could have sat in, but instead we were ALL instructed to jump in the back of the truck bed. The tree branches were so long as we drove down the muddy, bumpy road, all of us sitting in the back were scratched up before the ride even began.
For starters, they did not have any waivers for us to sign, nor did they have any helmets available. ""SAFETY" IS NOT A CONCERN
PART 1 of the story: Less than half way into our trail, 1 of the ladies horses saddle started to come undone and slide toward the left. This was not double checked. The horse threw her off and she falls straight to the ground. The horse at this point was out of control and almost stomped on her. It could have been very fatal. The instructor did NOT get off his horse to even check to see that she was safe, instead he was trying to calm the horse down while sitting on his horse. Thank GOD she is just bruised up.
Part 2: The wild horse ran around in circle and then ran towards my horse and the other woman's horse. He rams into us and the other horse throws the other woman off her horse! Yes both ladies were thrown off the horse! The 11 year old was still on her horse and that horse was galloping away in fear. It was very scary situation and it could have been a lot worse than it was.
I have ridden many horses in my life and I understand animals are animals and their behavior is unpredictable, but these horses are NOT very well tamed for beginners and first time riders, and are extremely unreliable.
As you can see 2 woman were thrown off their horses and the instructor did NOTHING to react for their safety.
Summary: Yes the price point is very nice, but not at someones safety. Safety is definitely not important to this place. But you get what you pay for. Ride at your own risk, but I do NOT recommend this place for...
Read moreVery disappointed with this excursion :/. My best friend and I came from out of state to visit Dallas for her birthday. One thing she really wanted to do was horseback riding. We found this place that promised and said âEnjoy a trail ride with an experienced trail guide, spotting wildflowers and grazing cows or scampering squirrels and wildlife. Rest alongside the historic Trinity River under the shade of ancient oaksâ which was not the case when we arrived. Also my friend got on her horse, and the workers all called it âa lazy horseâ and âa slow horseâ. When we started the trail my friends horse walked slowly and was very behind in the ride. It was not an enjoyable experience. For me, I got a ânormalâ horse, however the trail ride itself was very stressful, sharp branches everywhere, mud and poop. My hat fell off at one point. My friend trailed way behind and we didnât even wait for her. It was a stressful experience. My friend did not get what she wanted. So after the ride, she emailed the company, and the owner reached out. We talked to the owner the next day. She felt terrible and promised a refund. However my friend has not received a refund to this day. Very disappointed, we ended up riding in Austin the day after. And had a much...
Read morePositives: young boy who was looking after us was lovely. Very polite and open to talking about the ranch, horses etc. price was reasonable when you pay up front
Negatives: no offer of a helmet (if you wanted one) no curiosity as to whether I'm a beginner or an experienced rider no forms to sign on site (waivers etc.) you only walk, no trotting/cantering etc. you do a circuit / route that is borderline dull by time you were on the horse, you probably only get 30-35 minutes
If you have never ridden a horse, this is fine i guess. If you have any experience of horse riding and want to experience a Texas ranch rider, I'd maybe consider something where you pay for longer and have clarity as to what you are...
