Sealy Truck Stop — Local services in Sealy

Stopped for the night since we were running out of driving time and traffic was backed up as they were rerouting everyone off interstate to the service road and around construction . It was around 8:30 pm when we parked. So we relaxed for a little bit thinking that the diner there was open 24 hours...it is not, it closes at 9:30 pm. Okay we can get some lunch eat and have sandwiches...nope! They had no meats at all. They did however have pre-made sandwiches so I got 2. Not much meat on them but something is better than nothing. After we ate we were going to get a shower...not tonight, the clerk said he would appreciate it if we could come back after 5:30 am because he was the only one there and couldn't run the store and shower and doe erythromycin g he needed to. By the way showers cost $10.00 per person even if you use the same shower, $10.00. I said even for husband and wife and he said yes. I said we are awful dirty and he offered the shower to us if we really needed one. After him asking us to wait til 5am I decided that we would just hold our breath a little while longer. It is a nice quiet out of the way stop. And the bathrooms were really clean and smelled good.all in all I'd go there again if we are back this way. Maybe by then they will have more options for food. The clerk was very polite and even though he explained things I feel that they should have at least had some sort of deli meat or something. I recommend if you come to come before 9:30pm. Ordered steak med well, first time came out was just a little.less cooked than beef jerky, waitress took it back brought out another with the same baked potato (against health code) brought out second was so raw the inside was still cold I spit it back out on my plate and said no its top raw she walked Eay and never seen her again. When went to pay I told him I wasnt paying for the steak. He told me how expensive it was and all this well, then spend the money to hire a cook that knows how to cook. I explained and that the waitress could verify that I didnt eat the steak, she then spouted off about the meat costing money, I normally do not hold a cooks inability to cook against our server, however I will when she dpesnt do her part to fix it...so that is food cost money, I paid for it and so did she with not receiving a tip! Love this place. Was afraid that would have changed to the worst after total remodeling, but they chose to keep the restaurant instead of the fast food junk. They even have the same waitresses as before.in my opinion, the quality of the service and food is outstanding. The waitress is very polite, professional, and has a great since of humor. Been stopping by here off and on for the last 8 years and it won't be my last. just wish it would be more often. A previous post I read talking about bad food, evidently is not true. I rate this a 5 star because of good food and service, but mainly because of staying old school by keeping the restaurant. Keep up...
